I believe the new mechanic that is a spin on the old one mentioned by Rosewater is a spin on devotion but for creature types instead of mana pips. They already spoiled a nykthos land where you name a creature and it taps to add mana equal to the number of crreatures of that type.

I LOVE the deck roasting idea. My favorite and best deck is a Xyris build that’s part group hug, part life gain, and wins by sacrificing snakes to burn out the table with a massive Hurricane or Earthquake.

Regarding Nadu: If they ban Shuko, people will just move on to a 4 CoCo, 4 Chords build and use Outrider full on instead of Shuko. You thought Nadu was annoying now? Wait until they start ripping the combo off the top deck at end step.

I love it when we see athletes and other famous people playing Magic. It helps bring more attention to the game. When I played in person regularly. We had a banker, athletes from different sports, coaches from the high school, and local business owners there playing the game.

I have been toying with a land destruction deck using the flare of cultivation ramp strategy as well, but my land destruction is using spreading algae with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to make my opponents lands get destroyed when they are tapped. I also lock them out with trinisphere, icy manipulator, and root maze. Essentially the idea is, Turn 1: Green source, Arboreal Grazer or Elvish Pioneer to place another land, flare of cultivation to sacrifice the creature we just played for a third land and a guaranteed land drop the following turn. Turn 2: Depends on our hand and the board state, we can either sylvan scrying for an urborg and play that into spreading algae or root maze, play trinisphere and root maze to slow down the opponent, or some else like abrupt decay creatures that we don't want around. From there the idea is root maze and trinisphere keep the opponent basically locked while we use the spreading algae and urborg combo to keep them at 2 lands or less at all times. Icy manipulator is used to forcibly tap their lands so they can't just wait 3 turns and then cast a spell.

dude i've been doing this gruul stompy deck in timeless that runs the dumb monkey as well as robber of the rich x4 and robber is so good in it. People still sleeping on probably the best red two drop in the game. It often outperforms ragavan

I have been runnih a similar list and I have been getting many concedes on turn 3. I'd suggest adding some copies of Goblin Dark Dwellers. In can finish the game and recasts land destruction or sweeper/removal.

I think the new twist on an old mechanic might be a new take on heroic. Change to be like a trigger on commiting a crime but for your things rather than your opponent's.

the tweaked mechanic from 2013 is 100% going to be heroic but it works with abilities too. like half of the cards they've previewed for the set have abilities that target creatures. maro also mentioned on his blogatog a few months back that an upcoming set was using a fixed heroic.
