That’s bs. A speed mirage isn’t an illusion with no one behind it. In order to create a speed mirage the Flash literally has to run back and forth between those two positions. Not only did this mean that the way Despero saw through that using telepathy is bs, but also the fact that Flash is wasting a ton of time and energy running between those positions when he could at least be speed punching the villain while running back and forth to create the mirage. Flash truly is the most inefficient fighter of all time.

Yeah Barry is so fast that he's effectively invisible so why bother with a speed mirage? The only time we've seen them used in a way that made sense was when Thawne needed to show himself in two places at once to convince Team Flash that he wasn't the Reverse Flash. And even then he largely relied on a hologram made with tech instead of powers, and needed Barry (who was nowhere near as powerful in Season 1) out of the building since Barry would have been able to see Thawne running between locations and changing in and out of his suit.

@@Yaapo One of the things I loved about Arrow was that Oliver tried to have a no killing rule and found it just wasn't realistic. Prison wouldn't have been able to hold Ra's al Ghul or Damien Darhk. And having a no killing rule endangered his team in the field. It allowed Deathstroke to run unchecked for way too long in Season 2, and it got Laurel killed in Season 4. Oliver recognises that heroes who don't kill are important to have in order to balance out the people like him who kill when it's a necessity. If Oliver had been there when they were debating killing Thawne, I think he would be proud of Barry for refusing to kill him, and then Oliver would have turned on a meta-dampener and shot Thawne right through the chest. The problem is with Oliver gone, someone needs to be there to make those tough calls. Barry needs to learn to live in the real world and accept that sometimes he has to take one life to save others. Every life Thawne takes from that point is Barry's fault.

The writers and directors of this show consistently ignore that someone with superspeed should be able to dodge literally anything a character without superspeed can throw at them. If they gave a damn, they could show Barry dodging everything, and hitting Despero full force, only to realise Despero is too strong for Barry's offensive capabilities to matter. The two are then locked in a stalemate. From there the pair are forced to talk (rather than this show's stupid ongoing issue of the Flash always talking to his enemies before they fight (or during a fight) instead of just Barry just putting them in the pipeline within a nanosecond and interrogating them only once their powers are offline). However, there is still Despero's telepathy to consider. He could trick Barry into thinking they're in a real stalemate, altering his perception so Barry is watching an illusion and can't see a punch coming until it's already made contact (they half did this, but Barry and Ray could still see the real Despero throwing a car). But nope, instead a character without superspeed can keep up with Barry. Just like in every other episode. Justice League level threat is irrelevant when every random street thief can keep up with the Flash.
