I am a Filipino and understanding the culture of Maori is just awesome. Every time I see a Haka being performed, I tear up and become emotional. I see Haka also as a way for men to release their anger without really hurting someone. I hope all men know how to perform Haka. Unity in diversity!

I went to Auckland to visit my bestie once. You know what. It felt like HOME. I am a resident of Aus, and as much as I hold it dear to my heart, it never gave me the same feeling. Was thinking about the old times with my dad when i stumbled upon this clip, my dad passed in Feb, he's from NZ been over here in the UK for 30+ years.. when I was little he used to do the haka in front of me alot especially when the All Blacks won a game.. it was scary seeing him randomly do this but I didn't understand it at the time.. now seeing how passionate people can be doing the haka is more enlightening knowing my dad did it.. he told me that he wouldn't have come to the UK if he didn't hurt his knee during the trials for the all backs.. he had a limp.. just to think I wouldn't have been & he could've been a professional all black but how life had another fate for him. Rest in peace dad! I'll learn to do the haka & I'll do it infront of your grave.. whilst probably looking like a crazy person in the middle of a cemetery lol

Honestly, I really want to do the Haka dance. I respect their culture so much. It’s intense and amazing♥️ I love it
@ericknopf21094 жыл бұрын
Wolfie Who Not really a dance. The Haka was meant as a way to both psych up the warriors and psych out their enemies at the same time. When you see them stick their tongue out, it’s on purpose. It’s part of the psyching out. It’s them showing they’re crazy enough to eat you when they kill you. So the outcome they’re trying to get is their enemies running away seeing how crazy the warriors are. Every single time I see a Haka I get chills in how much respect their culture has.

Can only assume that it’s taught in school or simply at a young age since it’s so intertwined in the culture. Seems like one of those things you just, learn...
@sonnyday68303 жыл бұрын
@@Iwontreadyourreply taught in schools and rugby players all do it, plus we have kapa haka groups and have haka competitions, all Kiwis learn it not just Maori
@maraeacookson15733 жыл бұрын
It's not just taught at school, or with sports groups it's learnt mainly within the family, at family events, family gatherings, family parties, anything to do with family we get to learn the songs, the waiata, the haka and it's learnt by being involved with a Haka Group.

its amazing the fact that every single person in new zealand has a maori warrior inside ready for battle
@kukumaoridom7284 жыл бұрын
We sure do, everybody has warrior inside them it's just in our culture our ancestors tried to make us express this rage through song and dance instead of hiding the rage inside and doing nothing. Every human has this rage and you can never supress it otherwise you become fake
