It's quite insane. I'm not sure about how accurate it is, but doing so is comparable to if you're holding an object in your hand and you tried to vibrate a large area of air by shaking your hands really fast. It does sound very impressive if he did that. Now, for what he actually did. I think that because an explosion would move outwards at a really fast rate, he continuously vibrated all of the particles as the bomb exploded. The blast wave continued to vibrate even after it had left him. The only misleading part was that the blast wave moved a bit too slowly. It might just because time is slowed down to have a more dramatic effect.

Having Iris fighting with the Flash may make it hard for the secret identity thing since she's not a cop or anything and isn't hiding her identity. Asking why a journalist with a fancy gun is fighting with the Flash may end up being a first clue that would put 2 and 2 together.
