@@scottstocktonphotographyI'm hooked on flash, love that I can change bad light into good light. I use it both inside and outside frequently. Inside because I'm moving around and bouncing flash I normally shoot in TTL. I've done it for so long that I find easier-to-use then manual. Outside I'm more apt to use manual flash, because the flash is usually off camera. Really enjoyed your shoot with mom as your model. It's nice to see a photographer use a senior citizen, I'm one myself. I loved shooting my mother in law. She was very comfortable in front of the camera and quite photogenic, a natural. She passed at 96 yrs old, even at that age she loved being in front of the camera.

Admire your goal in encouraging neophytes to dive into Flash, but, as one of our critics rather untactfully noted, there are obviously a lot more subtleties, like camera settings, HSS, light distance to subject, time of day, etc. (that I'm still struggling with). Maybe you're saving them for your next video(s)?
@scottstocktonphotography9 ай бұрын
I agree that there are a lot of other factors going into it like, iso, aperture, shutter speed etc. I thought by saying, expose for how you would like the scene to look, was giving folks the freedom to choose their settings to their liking, because not everyone likes hss like me, sufficed. I felt that if I went over all the camera setting and things like that, that maybe it would’ve been too many things to have to keep track of, and might have overwhelmed the viewer. Next time I’ll add my settings to the video. Thanks for the fair criticism I will take it in. Is there any specific questions you have with any of setting on your camera ?
@vernonr74049 ай бұрын
@@scottstocktonphotography Thanks. Since you mention HSS, I think I can answer most of my own questions now. Main question: When shooting on sunny or mostly sunny days, as in the video, do you prefer open shade areas or sunny ones? Been afraid of shooting in sunny areas because that probably means "overpowering the sun," i.e., 600W strobe on full power, 1/8000 shuter speed. And, if doing a lot of shots, running the battery down or overheating the strobe.
@jasonbodden88168 ай бұрын
Or you can use ND filters, which I prefer, as I get to keep the full power capabilities of my strobe.
