lightning, is one of the most complex forces of nature, it is actually made of "Plasma"-Plasma is heated gas which makes up most of the universe;back on topic electricity is not random actually lightning is pure energy/pure plasma in action, which means it's Extremely Hot,so could melt glass if sustainable,and enough plasma you can control electricity. this is coming Orangeknight- is extremely intelligent 7 grader ^°^

and plasma is made up of electrons, a subatomic particle that orbits another type of particle called atoms. Atoms are what make up some of the things in our universe, mostly everything you see right now around you on earth is made up of atoms. Electrons also make up another form of electricity called static electricity. That annoying sting you feel sometimes when you touch a door knob is the process of atoms exchanging electrons. The term for an atom that gained some electrons is an ion. The atoms that lost electrons become positive the atoms that gained are negative. Atoms are bound together by a force that is at a scale so small our senses cant detect it, this force is called an inter molecular force. -Also from an extremely intelligent 7th grader. Oh yea and light is also made up of plasma, and plasma is actually the 4th state of matter (that is something you wont learn from your science teacher).
