Flashback Pheasant Tail - Golden Pheasant Variation: Fly Tying Step by Step

This is a fin little take on a Flashback Pheasant Tail (PT) Nymph. The golden pheasant tippets add a little splash of color similar to a hotspot and give you the option of mixing tings up if fish are being difficult and you want to try something different. At the same time the barring comes with the tippets is something that can be found on swimming mayflies, in particular Nesameletus. All that being said and done you can follow the same process using ring neck pheasant tails to make a standard flashback PT as well or ditch the flash and use the same pheasant tail fibres to make a wingcase for a standard PT. Either way these patterns are effective and popular around the world as great fish catching flies.
