Some corrections: John Collins wasn't Celtic's first million pound signing, he cost £950,000. The player that broke the seven figure barrier was Tony Cascarino, at £1.1m. Alan Stubbs' transfer fee was £3.5m. Adam Idah did not break Celtic's transfer record, he cost £8.5m, the other reported £1m is in potential add-ons. If we're using the metric for add-ons then Cameron Carter-Vickers would have broken Celtic's transfer record after Odsonne Edouard, as CCV's price was £6m - rising to a potential £10m.

For rangers horrendous, Flo wasn't a bad player, but rangers at that time got better shifts and value from budget players like Shota avarladze. Although i seemed to be one of the lucky ones that seemed to see Flo score whenever i visited Ibrox. Being non biased, i have to admit that Celtic have been the better side at picking value for money players. John Hartson and Bobo Balde in my veiw were the two greatest and most underrated signings in SPL history. We did the daft thing of trying to mimic celtic and bobo by signing Boumsong. It never worked. The way Strachan and celtic treated Balde towards the end was dispicable in my opinion.

One of the more unique football channels out there presenting less heralded but undoubtedly entertaining topics. I like the focus on the Scottish league rather than the more well-known leagues with the odd more typical video thrown in such as the Zidane one for a change of pace. I am commenting and subscribing just to being more attention to this underrated channel. Keep up the good work, and perhaps consider doing a video on Roberto Baggio if you decide on a more typical football topic with a lot of potential talking points.

That overdraft comment from David Murray needs to be archived, it's got to be up there with the best "didn't age well" videos, I wonder if rangers are even allowed an overdraft nowadays,... summer 1997 another footnote in Sir David's arrogance,£650.000 bought a man who some would argue single handed stopped that ten in a row
@dougmasters45794 ай бұрын
Rangers tended to spend more money on mercenaries (albeit world class ones), Celtic went for mostly quality players at a more reasonable price. In summer 97, Celtic signed Henrik Larsson and Marc Rieper for about a couple of million combined. Lubo Moravcik and Mark Viduka were signed a year later for about 4 million combined.

I know here it was taking the feed paid up front. But I wonder when you consider sell of fees would it bring some mentions that could take it close to being records. E.g Jota cost celtic £6 million up front, but benfica would have been due a sizable sell on clause for the £25 million he was sold for. Would this bring the total paid to benifca in the end (transfer fee + sell on clause) to perhaps £10+

Rangers started spending like drunken sailors under Souness. When they signed Woods and Butcher, they spent the equivalent of Alex Fergusons entire transfer budget at Aberdeen, despite being reigning league champions. This is despite the fact that up until that point, Aberdeen broadly had a similar wage and transfer budget to the Old Firm through the early to mid 80's. It was the 90's with Champions League and TV money that really fucked the competitiveness, alongside the financial arms race instigated by David Murray combined with shocking levels of pro-Old Firm bias in the media. Disappointed that there was no mention of Hans Gilhaus, a European Cup winner, joining Aberdeen for £800k, which helps show how ridiculous Rangers spending was in comparison to everyone else as well, not just Celtic.

Come the end of this season the Flo record might be the only one Ibrox fans can still cling to. I don't know why you're saying the £12m record won't be broken anytime soon when you've just stated that Celtic have just paid £11m for Engels. I'd be surprised if Celtic don't smash that record fairly quickly. Let's face it, they're the only ones who can nowadays - Sevco are skint!
