Learned another function of the styling of this era of Mercedes-Benz. It never ceases to amaze me how functional the styling is on these cars and the thought that went into them!! Great video as always!! Cheers!!

Another amazing video! I really enjoy your videos, and I’ve learns a lot of useful tips. The main problem with my w201 this coming winter is glow plugs, of course your 190e doesn’t have this problem but my 190D sure does. I can’t decide if I’m going to take it to a shop or do the glow plugs my self, I’ve heard they aren’t super difficult, but I do have to take the intake manifold off. Anyways, thanks for another great video, and more great tips!

Glad you like them! Thank you!I haven't had a Diesel in years, but I do remember the glow plugs being incredibly tight. Mine were the old-style on W115 engines (220D & 240D) and they had an individual nut on each that attached them to a heavy wire busbar. I think the W201 engines use a smaller/relay system.

This was handy, thanks ! Especially with the drain systems.

Thanks! Where I park outside, pine needles can get caught in the drain systems. So I make it a habit to check/clean the drains often.

Great high quality video I’ve never heard of cardboard thing I’m gonna try that. and i also used green coolant in my Mercedes but it would wear out rubber pieces faster and since then I’ve used the blue coolant people recommend and the reliability is a lot better
@FlashDriveFilms3 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! (Just don't forget to remove the cardboard when the weather warms up! ) I've been using the green coolant due to its' compatibility with aluminum parts. I've never tried the blue coolant, so I'll have to look into that. Thanks!

Your video tutorials are top notch. Clear. In focus. Good lighting. I’m a video producer myself and these are just fantastic and to the point. I have a 1984 190e. Any chance you can show us how to change some of the belts? I usually see thicker belts on 190es and mine are quite thin. Guessing cause it’s an 1984? The two belt numbers I can see are 0049973592 & 0099975392. I also have an issue where my vehicle doesn’t start when left overnight or after not being driven a few hours. Starts by moving key to position 2 twice then starting. Someone said it was the accumulator which I will install new. Any info or tutorials on changing the fuel filter, fuel pump, accumulator ? Looking forward to whatever info you can share. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this classic vehicle.

Thank you! My current W201 is also an 84 190E. It's not quite ready for the belt change, but I did upload a video about the belts availability and in the description included the sizes for the 3 belts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpyclWtsgM2drs0

Great video! You've earned a new sub. I know this is a long-shot, but would you be able to produce a video detailing the hood latch on a W201? Mine is rusted stiff and I'm puzzled on where to start with it (car has stood for a number of years).
@FlashDriveFilms3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! W201 hood latch is a great suggestion, I think a lot of people would enjoy that. Give me a day or two and I'll see what I can put together!

Can you do a video about changing the fuel Filter or fuel pump and or the accumulator. The hoses on the 84 are quite stiff. Not sure where to clamp the fuel line. Thank you!

Any feedback regarding greasing the wiper? I noticed on my 1984 model that the wiper housing isn’t big and bulky like other models. I’ve heard you have to maintain them, open them up and grease them. Is this the same in the 1984 model?
@FlashDriveFilms3 жыл бұрын
Here is great summary of that exact issue. ( It's a far better overview than I can provide, but basically, a 1984 will not need the same treatment as the 1986 & newer) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWSsgZ2BnKhod7M

@@FlashDriveFilms does the 1984. Or have thr same grease inside as the 86? It doesn’t need the same maintenance?

Question for you. Why are you using green coolant I thought it's supposed to be the blue coolant?
@FlashDriveFilms Жыл бұрын
I've been sticking with the green coolant as that is what it came with from the factory. (mines a 1984) I am a little wary of mixing types. The blue is probably fine, but I think you would have to flush the whole system first. Here is a link to a coolant article from Hemmings Motor News: www.hemmings.com/stories/2014/08/01/tech-101-the-colors-of-antifreeze Hope this helps.

@@FlashDriveFilms Ok. I bought mine used from the original owner and he mentioned that coolant to me to use only blue bec according to him thats the original. I don't know much about car that's why trying to learn. Thanks for the info and thanks again for those videos they are very helpful to me
@FlashDriveFilms Жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the year. The newer ones may well have come with blue coolant. One issue I'm having with mine is that it has blue *brake* fluid. Sometime in the past, the previous owners' mechanic convinced him he need super-do-goody exotic race-car brake fluid and charged him to flush & refill the thing. Great. Except now that fluid is no longer available. I will have to flush and refill with stock fluid when I do major brake work in the future. So, yes, there can be an evolution of products in any car this old.
