I was interested in this printer but decided to go with the k1. I do like it more. However, the fact that Flashforge used klipper and locked it down and then told everyone it was not klipper turned me off. Now, creality was not much better, mind you, but eventually gave in and gave us root access. Once they did that, I picked one up. The crazy sales also helped. Lol. I have had it now for about a week and I am very happy with it. Once you unlock and install full mainsail or fluidd, it is an amazing printer. I use Orca slicer, and it's now a beast of a little printer. The k1 has now turned into my favorite go-to printer, and I have 4 printers. Keep up the great work, Aurora. You are my favorite review channel by far and are the most objecting and detailed reviewer out there. Thanks

I found the glue is not necessary if you increase the build plate temperature for pla. They have it only at 50c. Going to 60 or 65 is rock solid. And I got the non pro version, which is just as fast and merely lacks the enclosure (which they provide the stls to print your own), camera (which I found for $25 from their site), and that nice filtration and only a single nozzle, for $299. And there is a modified version of orca slicer that can wirelessly send to it. Very impressed.

You have done it again! An amazing review highlighting the hardware features including the 0.6mm dia. hardened nozzle - speed anyone? I am not sure how many of your viewers recognize/understand your expert level of software and coding experience; I do hope so. Again, if Flash Forge listen, the next release should get these "cons" sorted. I don't think the loss of 30mm in Z axis is as big an issue as you but your point is taken. To me, this printer is a candidate for a prototype fast printer with the 0.6 mm nozzle with engineering grade filaments but it might be awkward given the code cloak.

Hello, excellent video, I congratulate you on the enclosure box, great, if everyone is complaining about the excessive noise of these machines and the position of the filament spool, I have the old and first ender 3 and an S1, now I need I bought a third one and I really can't decide if this one or the K1, the K1 seems very similar to me in everything and the fact that it already comes with its box seems great to me as I don't have to listen to so much noise, but in the normal K1 the impression measurements They are smaller, while in the v3 plus it is a good print size, but it is open and that is equal to a lot of noise, which of these two would you buy, the v3 plus or the K1, unfortunately my budget does not allow me for the K max, which is a good size and comes enclosed, but now I just saw an offer for the FLASHFORGE ADVENTURER 4 printer, and it seems like a good option too, of these three which one would you buy? Thank you very much and keep up the good work with such good descriptions of the machines!!!🙏

Thank you for the review. I was seriously considering one of these until I found out that they had locked down Klipper, and made it impossible to print over the LAN without using their slicer. What's more, you cannot even import a gcode file from Orca into their slicer to upload. Given that they are openly disrespecting the very open source software community that they are benefitting from, I voted with my wallet and it was a hard pass.

I wish more youtube videos had your level of detail and knowledge of what's important. I also wish more videos like this would get updated, as I believe there may have been some updates to the firmware. My only gripe so far with this printer (based on research, my new printer wont arrive until next week) if that it seems overly large for the print size. I would almost think that it could have been had a 235x235x 235 print volume and still fit in that huge case. Most people also don't have room or a print farm to easily access the spool, so the rear placement will be the first thing I will need to address. The last thing is that I don't like when companies try to force you into their eco system. I use Cura and have a well established workflow from Fusion 360 to Cura for slicing my work and printing. This should be open source enough so the communities can create the required profiles for use with other slicers. Image if they dis the things I'd want...the perfect printer for the price. Very well done video. Thanks for making it.

I would just want to suggest one idea: try to avoid the monotone. What you're doing is on par with the best youtubers that I've watched but that much information given in the same tone can be overwhelming. I don't suggest imitating Zack Freedman's antics, but being a little more friendly can take to higher places than you've already reached. Thanks for being here, I'll watch as many videos as possible because I'm sure I'll learn a lot more with them. Cheers! PS I hope you won't find my words as criticism, they're not. Although many tinkerers like to spend time working with the printer, I am of the camp that spends time on my design and want simple send and print. What slicer it uses is not that important to me as long as it takes minimal time to set up the print and it achieves the print. This one is getting serious consideration from me. Looks like the proprietary slicer is the way to go for less hassle. Thanks for the great in depth review.

Man, all the commenters in this comment section acting like enclosed printers, CoreXY, 3 screw Z-axis for beds (not independently driven on Bambu though), and input shaping didn't exist before BambuLabs came along. All of this stuff was on RatRigs and Voron Tridents long before, and specific elements were on other manufacturer's printers as well. While BambuLabs may have been the first commercially successful company to package a number of pre-existing open-source technologies together, excepting for perhaps their specific AMS system, all of their technology is entirely derivative and predates the release of their printers by many years. The reality is that the 3D printing community owes its thanks to all the hardworking innovators who developed this stuff openly such that various companies were able to use said technologies to provide for mass market adoption.

I have the AD5M (non-pro), got it a couple of days ago and love it. I feel like the only downside compared to the pro is the lack of enclosure, which can be custom made if you really want it, and not necessary for most materials, and the lack of camera. Which you can get one and hook up to the USB port and view from your PC if you have a webcam laying around. I feel like at the price point, it's pretty hard to do better. Being a Core XY with a very solid frame, this thing runs circles around my M5C, and it would be an insult to it's honor to even compare to other the other printers I've owned. Also I really like that pen holder that looks like a set of tires, if anybody knows where I could get the STL, I would appreciate it 😅

Quick question - for your cube / cylinder tolerance test, have you tried using different slicers? I’ve found that my own tolerances can vary between slicers, and that Prusa Slicer tends to be the most consistent. As always, another excellent review, thank you!

@@ShockwaveEngineering yeah, when I slice something in Cura Slicer, my parts almost never fit. But the exact same STL sliced in Prusa Slicer, it’s always a near perfect fit. This is especially true for nuts and bolts.

Yes, Prusa Slicer (or forks) are better in accuracy than Cura (or forks).

My biggest complaint is the 220mm height and the locked Klipper. Even if they just would open Klipper so I can use it with my Orca Slicer over network this would be already the best machine for the price on the marked even with the more expensive Nozzles. I also really don´t get why they wouldn´t increase the height, they could have gone up to 260mm and this would be a selling point, it basically doesn´t cost anything to do so, the slighly longer profiles etc are in the cents range for material costs.

Should be using the exact same filament among all printers for most accurate results as filaments really vary in quality/ flow/ temps etc.

Yup. And they seem to think people won't notice. That is why I went with the k1 once creality smartened up and caved in to our pressure. That printer with full functional klipper is great.

@@Andre_M_3D yes i also got a K1 and the crazy prices helped, but i was really interested in this one.. pity the route they decided to take on klipper, and i hope they change but from what i have read from them, they are even worse than creality in this subjects of fw's and open source!

@LuisG-SC I agree. The biggest turn off was the lack of wifi with other slicers. That and the z hight. Maybe they will learn like creality did but I doubt it. They all want to follow bambu but the issue is their software is no where near close to it. And the type that want bambu will continue to buy them. So flashforge should have done their market research. If they would have they would have gone for a bit bigger, enabled moonraker for all slicers and let us decide on whether we want to unlock the software. Oh and followed the rules for open software. Shame on them.

8:04 - "WiFi is not supported if you are not using FlashPrint." FAIL I expected this printer to be twice the price from FlashForge so kudos for delivering a fast printer with excellent print quality (solid hardware design plus input shaping) at such a competitive price, but the 5M Pro would really shine if it used standard Klipper with all of those advantages, including printing easily over WiFi from PrusaSlicer or a Fluidd web browser tab. Impressive number slider, ABS crate, TPU wallet and clearance test prints. The 5M Pro definitely has the goods and the hardware is very capable. It's a shame it's limited by proprietary firmware.

Amazing channel and great effort to bring light to the world of 3d machines. I study this printer and looked like it is "the one", i was considering it not for the crazy speed but for the advertised low noise and air filtration. I was willing to sacrifice some speed for the low noise ....but it seems this is not the case. I would greatly apreciate if there can be tested various settings for "quaiet speeds" and the quality of air complemented by a very thorough ranking for under 40db with no squiks or wislles....it could attract a lot of niche clients. Thank you for your great effort :)

Love how the comments are filled with people bragging about how they didn’t buy this because klipper isn’t accessible. Nobody cares. And despite that, this beats the shit out of your overpriced golden boy Prusa’s in nearly every aspect 🤣 and the K1? What a joke. That thing belongs in the sub-$200 price range.
