Troubleshooting an Atari 130XE which doesn't work with cartridges

I'm retracing the troubleshooting steps I followed earlier when repairing this 130XE which didn't work with cartridges. In eliminating possible causes, SysCheck II proves invaluable, and once the RAM and OS ROM is proven OK, knowing which component to replace first saves a lot of time.

Interesting video, Jon. Thanks. Can you clarify a point or two about use of the Sys-Check? First, can it be used on non-XE machines without an ECI connector? Or to phrase it another way, is it of any use for working with 400/800/XL machines? If not, is there an equivalent to the Sys-Check that will? I've used the Atari SALT cartridge rom to work on my existing machines but I don't have the external testing box that you're "supposed" to use it with for a full diagnosis.

Herb Schaltegger No good for the 400/800 (although it could potentially be rigged up to Incognito, for what it's worth), but SysCheck has a PBI connector suitable for the XL and even a 5V pickup wire for 5V on stock 800XLs with no power on the expansion port (wire connects to the 5V pin of the joystick port).
