I was getting sync and RGB out before everything went to Hell. I simply haven't had time to establish what's dead.

@@gyorka To show off your adapter board and document the installation. Sorry the outcome wasn't more exciting, but the FX core never worked in the first place on this machine, regardless of whether the adapter board is used or not, as you know. So I'll have to make a follow-up video when I try again. Does this present any problems?

It's a great show, and I love the music too. You should have seen the original install before Candle's board existed: VBXE hanging off a 40-way ribbon cable. But functionally, it was just as effective as what we have in the video.

I have one of the 1st hand assembled Incognito cards hand signed to me in an 800. I know where the next VBXE is being installed, that's for sure! OK - 1:44 in and I've already spit my drink everywhere and scared the crap out of the dog.

Oh wild. I'm an Atari 800 owner (also have an Atari 400), but never considered VBXE because it was impossible.

I hope you can get this working properly after XMAS! Does sound like maybe that CPU card is interfering!

I wonder. The CPU board obviously has different routing and perhaps different specced buffer chips, etc, but perhaps it's deemed culpable because it's the only thing different between my and Candle's 800. We shall see when I install this thing in an 800 with no SCCC...

I really wanted this to work! I’d love to have VBXE in my Incognito 800. With that and a PokeyMAX (if they’re ever available again) it would be my ultimate Atari 8 bit.

@@retrorev I put a PokeyMax 2 in this machine last year (hence the little wiring harness near the POKEY chip), but that disastrously upset stability as well, so I had to remove it.

I always wondered - the weird ‘power supply’ connector that the 800 main board uses to interface with the PSU board. Was that a semi common thing back in 1970s electronics? I’ve never seen anything else like that.

I like the modular design, but that connector is probably a weak-spot if the machine is constantly taken apart as mine is.

Is the power led lighting up at all at the end? I could see it working @17:50 but when you power the computer on @19:31, it seems to stay dark.

It's a good spot, and when I noticed that the AVR LED on the VBXE was pulsing at one point, Candle suggested we might have a power issue. I was just too exasperated to perform further diagnosis at the time.
