LOL! My dad was a Marine in Vietnam then a Cop for years after that, and I remember him teaching That “closing one eye trick” to gain an advantage in my natural “night vision “ when I was probably ’bout 8 or 9 🤣… As well as how to “walk point” while scanning for threats with my semi-auto .22 at around the same age. Lol, 👊!!

Great advice telling viewers to seek out formal low light training. For the majority who won’t for various reasons, you produced and excellent basic skills video. Anyone who at least practices these techniques will be a step further ahead. I make combat rings out of two rubber grommets - one as close to two inches in diameter as possible for the finger, and the other about twice the diameter of the light body. I encourage people to consider walking at night with the light already to g in their support hands. That makes them ready for an almost instant response when a challenge gets within threat distance. They can then decide whether to wash the ceiling or floor, or to put light directly on the subject - and to execute distance gaining movement when the challenge is suddenly suffering from diminished night vision.

I have as Thyrm Switchback ring on my Shurefire 6PX single output light. Before that, I was taught to put the light in my mouth. Put the light in your armpit or under your chin, move either, drop the light! Bad idea! Those cords ain't much help either. Well getting them on is the hard part. there going to be colllapsed flat & ya gotta wiggle your finger into the loop!

I think they make lights that will attach to the gun, thereby keeping your hands free to actually shoot the gun. That may not be the latest in tacticool though; I wouldn't know.

Sometimes you don't want to light up something while simultaneously pointing a loaded weapon at it. Unless you're just always pointing your gun at things just to use the flashlight.

@@rico989 Come on, Bub. Have a weapon light of course! AND have a compact carry light for searching *in the appropriate scenario*, it’ll be OK man. Don’t be dochey & condescending just for the fuck of it. It provides ZERO benefit for Anyone, including You. 😉 - Oh yeah, also: No. it’s not a new concept. Most people who bother to educate themselves about or train Any of this stuff are very well aware of using the “light splash” artfully.

Most current weapon lights are so bright that all you have to do is turn it on and point it at the floor, and it lights up the whole room.

Most importantly, I personally appreciate the fact that he’s not using a weapon mounted light on a pistol. Thereby using the gun as a search light. Something only Alec Baldwin would do.

Why would that be different than any other cop? For 90% of cops the only gun they ever fool with is their little radar gun. Even a mall cop can do that.

Lemme try to recap... Use the Harries technique (actually Rogers) or Weaver (actually Harries) depending on which way you're going around a corner. Put the light under your chin to reload. Use your light to hit someone even though you have a gun. And don't forget to use a proper "tactical" light like that gas-station zoomie that he has. Fieldcraft is really phoning it in these days 😵💫

@@letmeknow4449 Most modern weapon lights are so bright you can just shine them at the floor and they will light up the whole room. There's you some advice.
