Can you show us how to make an ombre type of kumihimo like in Your Name? Trust me, it would be a tutorial many people would watch! In the movie you can see the main character making the bracelet.

Could I use my round tool for this? I don’t have a square. And have you ever used Hemp for this? I’m making a lanyard and want it to last. Thanks! Great tutorial.

As long as your finished project is narrow enough to fit through the center hole, this design should work fine on the round one. You never know for sure til you try!

Hi, this was very helpful. I need to make a similar braid as a handle for a dog leash. Due to an error in the book I am using, I am running out of cordage. Another youtuber suggested adding extra length to my paracord by splicing, but I think doing that eight times with the cordage attached to my kumihimo disk is going to be excessively fiddly and difficult. Adding a separate handle seems an easier option. I intend to add the handle via a D or O ring attached to the end of the main part of the lead. I would like to use a flat braid - either kumihimo or possibly a knot tied on a paracord jig, I would then like to splice/sew the unbraided threads back into the braid to make a continuous loop - like a dog collar shape - rather than folding the flat braid in half and sewing the ends together, which won't look good in the finished product. Have you any suggestions?

Thanks for watching! That sucks, but sounds like you already have a solid plan. If you need any fids or needles for weaving back up into the braid, here's where we get ours: www.paracordplanet.com/tools/needles/. If possible, let us know how it turns out! 👏

@@ParacordPlanet Thanks a lot. Once I found a video that actually showed a practical way to move cords from the round braid to the correct starting position, the process actually got a lot easier. I also invested in another disk and some round shoe laces - not cheap at £5 a pair, but better than wasting good cordage . This allowed me to practise a few different braids, for example a flat braid starting with the round braid set up. Also, I was panicking about 10 steps without rotating my disc. Turned out that I could learn that pattern too. In the end, excess cord meant I finished the lead as originally intended and was able to give it to the dog it was meant for. First thing he did was take the handle and put it in his owner's hand to go walking. Apparently he has never done that before. Thank you again for your channel and esp. for your kindness in this instance.

You can melt the ends of that satin rat tail cord! Very carefully! It will melt ... just don’t put the flame directly against the cord... A hot knife works wonders on it!

About how much paracord do you think the hat will take? I stopped mine because I need to buy a long continuous strand. Wasn't successful in joining shorter strands. 😥

Would Micro or Nano cord work well with this bracelet?
@ParacordPlanet4 жыл бұрын
It could work, but it would look a bit different than with the rattail cord. You would probably see gaps in your weave.

Can I use yarn instead of cord? please and thank you for a reply
@ParacordPlanet3 жыл бұрын
Yarn compresses a ton, so depending on which kind, it SHOULD work. Your knots might just be small.

@@ParacordPlanet Thank you for reply. I am going to try it now. Rattail seems too thick and the beads don't fit through.

How bout the threads for cross stitch,
@gmr12414 жыл бұрын
Use what thread you like! If you don't like the result, you know not to use it again. I've used it (the full 6 threads) and it was fine.
