Flat earth is simply learning to ignore. The first thing to ignore is that one doesn't have justified reasons for rejecting explanations. They literally teach themselves that it's ok not to have a complete explanation, and that they don't have to properly understand why evidence points someone towards a logical conclusion. They literally don't understand how to use evidence, on purpose..

I really really really can’t believe that I keep getting taken in by this. Dan….why do we feel so obligated to listen to this drip ? It’s like a great TV series and the weeks episode ends with a cliffhanger, as they always do and then we can’t help but anxiously wait for the next week’s episode. I am pretty much of the belief that 98% or more of these supposed flat Earthers honestly in their heart of hearts do not believe that the planet is flat. They are a somewhat clever bunch of conmen who are feeding off of other people’s ACTUAL ignorance and lack of self awareness and just buying into what they say…..along with buying into their merchandise and PayPal donations and Patreon and so forth. So they are reaping the rewards of other people’s lack of knowledge and tricked by using clever tactics and methods and making these people feel special because they are now in the “know”…..these flat earth people have caught out big globe and all the money they profit…….somehow….from making average people think they live on a globe. When honesty, I bet over half the population of earth go by every day and don’t give one iota of thought into the earth’s shape. BECAUSE NOBODY WOULD GIVE A RATS ARSE. What would the consequences be? What would people think about a flat earth ? It’s round and nobody cares, if it was flat who the heck would care either ??? It is what it is. No BIGGIE.

I came across Father ted after having first accidentally watched half an episode of My Hero. I was visiting a neighbour who had his TV running, and when I saw a scene with a nurse and a doctor at a receptionists desk I thought "Oh, no, not another medical sitcom!". However, I had barely finished my thought before things started going crazy with the vain Dr. Pierce, the evil Mrs. Raven, the con-man Arnie, the sane lunatic Tyler, and the sometimes quite daft Thermoman. I LOVED that show until O'Hanlon left, and after that I discovered Father Ted. Not as funny ad My Hero, but O'Hanlon does have some epic moments. My favourite eoisode is the one with the booby-trapped milk float, especially jst ebfore the end titles when he awakes with a start and realized that one of his female customers that morning had been nude.

The funny part of Monty's explanation was that he asserts that the hot parts of the world change during the year; which is correct. And the suns is overhead different parts of the earth at different times; which is correct. And the hot parts of the earth lie under the sun's location at that time of the year; which is also correct, if not a complete explanation. But then he claims that the sun is not hot???? So having made the link between the sun and hot parts of the earth, he denies the evidence he provided. How does he make that switch in his head?

Many flatearthers are fundamentalist Christians. Many fundamentalist Christians are obsessed with sexual matters. Thinking of sexual things is all they seem to do and it's driving them crazy. I'm not sure if it's because they think other folks are having much more fun than they are, or if they really think that Nature gives a shit about a person's sexual orientation. Either way, it's an unhealthy obsession and they need to get laid or treated, one or the other.
