This pattern is really good to scrap busting and raglan sleeve construction. Having not so densely patterned material and colour contrast of the fabric makes it easy to show the stitches. The final three garments are both attractive and good to use everyday. I am more interested in tops. I would like to suggest you to keep the subjects separate in videos. The first subject is flat measuring the pattern (which is in the headline), the second subject is this very versatile T-shirt pattern which I would like to watch when I need ideas again, but I can not find it by its name when I look through your videos again because it has a different headline. I hope you get what I mean. If you can classify the videos for T-shirts, dresses, skirts and pants, it would be helpful when we try to find some detail in your (now) vast video archive. I have been watching you for a couple of years, I think I have watched almost all of the videos. Thanks for your hard work, enthusiasm, love of sewing and wonderful smile... 🤗🤗🤗
@LiftingPinsandNeedles4 жыл бұрын
I have many playlists on the channel for different types of garments. The title can only take a few characters and I chose the most important topic, in this case the flat measurements. I have not shown this in other videos and that is why I prioritized it for the title. I am working on organizing it all on my website. About the format: I can’t do separate videos for the sewing techniques because no one watches them if they are separate from an actual pattern. I have proved this over and over again.

I have been trying to fit this pattern for 4 days now. I think I almost have it. Need to get rid of drag lines under bust.I am short,large bust and narrow shoulders. I have cut size 18 and 20 and even a 22. Did a FBA on all of them. Finally just slashed and spread 2 inches above my bust line which is almost 2 inches above the pattern bust line. I have measured and remeasured. It has been a nightmare but I think I finally have it. As much sewing as I have done I should have an entire wardrobe by now!! I have big plans to hack this pattern along with the original pattern designs. So simple. So basic. So hack-able.I will not give up!! LOL

Karina, I love all your versions so much! Your muslin one I like a lot, I like how you did the see through curved piece on the bottom in the back. It is great that you do things because you are using scraps, but you make it as an intentional design feature every time. It's brilliant. Your favorite one is also my favorite one. I like everything about it. Thanks so much for sharing this video. Take care and God Bless.

All three are lovely and you look great! I think I have this pattern but don't know how to do a forward shoulder adjustment. I'll have to do some research and give it a try. Your staystiching advice is spot on. Back in the day most big four patterns would give direction to staystitch as the first step when working on each pattern piece. Thank you for pointing out this good practice.

The few patterns I’ve made haven’t been consistent in construction order but I have it hardwired in my brain. Maybe you could sew the sleeve and drape the dart excess on yourself to match where your shoulder is 😄

Thank you for watching. I live in 100 degree weather and won’t be doing long sleeves at this point when the pattern and construction is exactly the same actually. There is nothing different there. I’m not a fan of angled slits aesthetically and with sewing, the whole point is making what we like. Sewing and showing every single version in a pattern is just not possible for me. I hope you can see that.

That was such a great instructional video. You are an excellent sewist! I always shy away from thin woven fabrics, but you have inspired me. Do you use a three thread overlock stitch on the thinner fabrics? I am new to sergering and usually use the four thread. Any good tips would be appreciated.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
My serger only uses 3 threads. It does not have a 4 thread system. It works perfect. If too too delicate I’ll probably French seam :)

I’ve looked at this pattern but been unsure but I will definitely get it after seeing your makes, they look so good, I’m not sure I can pick a favourite, they would all look good in different situations. I love the idea that you can use scraps of leftover fabric too, especially fabric you love but haven’t got enough to make a full garment with. I liked your idea about using broiderie anglaise (eyelet?) for the bodice. I have some stretch lace but not much, do you think that would work for the sleeves? What about the panels? I suppose that should be woven should it? Thanks for your help in improving my sewing Karina

The sleeves could totally be stretch lace! That would be pretty. This pattern is gold for combining textures and colors. Thank you so much 😊

Another great make! I’ll have to check out that pattern. I’ve noticed that sometimes there are issues with big 4 patterns. It makes me wonder if someone really tests these patterns before releasing them.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I think the actual patterns need to be measured before sewing that’s all. A few extra steps but worth it. I’ve had great results so far, as long as I don’t make the size they say to make 😄. They have a different process and use a standard b cup fit model for the drafting of the patterns. They are professionally drafted and graded.

I like this pattern and your wearable toile is my favourite! There’s something odd going on with the left hand front seam on the chiffon one. Do you think it would be a good idea to stay stitch that seam on chiffon fabric as well as the neck? It is slightly on the bias. Chiffon and I have a love/hate relationship! I enjoy watching how you make alterations to fit you specifically. So helpful.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles5 жыл бұрын
I used a crepe for the white/black one, it’s not chiffon and yes, it could’ve stretched on one side and stay Stitching is never wrong 😁. If it were chiffon I would’ve stay stitched for sure.
