This ist not the best Method because you overheat the tar and reduce much lifetime of the tar. But for a emergency repair it is good enough.

Mod bituminen and most 4 plys are not compatible even if its melted they wont bond proprely

Cody Pierce The only way I could think of is to get a hot kettle melt the tar mop it on the roof then apply the gravel 🤷‍♂️. But that’s not very effective. I would tell the guy to go with the new roofing system like a granulated modified roofing system which has The granulated minerals on the rolls itself

Buy some more rock heat up your tar mop it on or sprinkle mop and shovel the rock into the bare spots

Eddie Yochim Agree 100% I remember a time doing more new jobs and now I get calls that someone else did something and it’s messed up. I just fixed a roof that a professional did. Lol He put all the drip edge on top of shingles and no starter course. It makes me wonder what has the world come too. Lol

Thats a shit way to repair a roof, you should have taken off the rock in the asphalt with a scraper, heat to dry and install roofing ciment with staturated coton, readd ciment and finish with gravel on top of it all. What you are doing is bad you should feel bad.

you can see we melted that rock with tar all together so it was seald 100%. that old system tar and gravel was bad idea anyway. cracks all around. so we change whole roof by 2 ply Torch-on membrane system. this is one of so many ways how to stop leak. your way is better but not for this roof

This is the most stupid thing I never saw, first the gravel supposed to be scraper then cleaned up everything and put 2 play of sbs torch on, or 3 or 4 plyas of bur, tar paper after a play hot tar and spread gravel to cover the area
