In this video on using flat washers on your Bead Roller you can see the many patterns that are
available by using the simplest of materials. By lightly modifying a couple of sets of 3/4” flat washers and a variety of spacers you will be opened up to a never ending combination of patterns.

Hi Jacob E. With the varied shapes in armor it would be difficult to use the bead roller. I would make and use stake tools for doing such. The larger diameter coil springs make great stake tools. And remember to never use springs as a stricken tool. Thanks Jere

You have just enlightened me to the fact that I don't need to buy all the dies that are available. I already have a box of fender washers that will lend themselves to this process as soon as I am able to decide on a lathe. And BTW I like that you were talking and describing the process you were doing. So many videos don't have any talking in them only music, usually bad music. Another question.... I see in the description above that you might have build the bead roller that you're using. The extra functions that this one has to slide the top roller shaft out or in, and the ability to raise and lower the top roller by a lever make sense. Do you know if the Eastwood and other models have these features? Thank you.
@jerekirkpatrick2092
@jerekirkpatrick2092 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Roger: You can also use the dies that came with your machine. Just use them as stock to make them any shape you need. Stepping dies are seldom used so make them into usable dies. You can find a set of plans along with a DVD for making all the mods. yourself. Look in the description and go to my web sight. Click on Plans and DVDs. Jere Great video thank you. I just got my first bed roller and now I'm trying to learn how to form body molding for a car. I am wondering if I use two washers with a spacer that would touch the metal being formed with the opposite forms on the other shaft could I create a molding with a ridge on either side with the center being pressed flat. The bottom spacers would have to rise up between the two upper washers.

Hi Joe. If you work one side at a time you should not get deflection in the middle. I would have to see a profile of the finished part in order to determine my approach. Make several practice pieces and refine the look as you go along. My machine has many adjustments that allows me to change a profile without changing dies. Look at my video "Beading with Flat Washers". You may get some ideas from that. Thanks for watching and please subscribe. Jere

@jerekirkpatrick2092
@jerekirkpatrick2092 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Cuda. Yes 19 ga can be worked with even the cheaper bead rollers. You may have to achieve the final depth by making several passes while increasing the depth of each pass. If you drill and tap your frame and use a spreader like you see on my machine, it will greatly increase the strength of the frame, and increase the depth you can roll with each pass. I will try to get to making more dies soon. Thanks for watching. Jere
