Finding the center of that 2x2 without math.. you rebel, you. ;) Another "yes" to plating videos. I'm about to do some more reverse electrolysis for de-rusting. Any chance to use electricity and water without getting zapped is fun. Take care, Joe

Hi Jere, Fine looking modification! As per usual.. lots of care and consideration employed. But I must ask .. why did you not just add motors to the wheelchair and use it as a row-rig for the genset? You could have even used the generator to provide power for the motors. Then, of course.. toe-in or out would have really come into play during those high-speed turns. ;) ... Joe

I'm hoping to get something real smart figured out before the next video. I could spend three days designing and fabricating a quick jack. But I think throwing a block of wood under the frame will let me get the pin out of the jack stand just as easy.

Excellent video, Jere. When you say "brass" do you mean some sort of pure brass? I ask because I usually use manganese bronze as a general purpose rod and nickel bronze if I'm more worried about strength. I thought these two were pretty much the standard rods used over the years. I use the standard pink Comweld flux available here in Australia. The silicon bronze was interesting in that it works without flux. I thought silicon bronze mainly became popular because it works with TIG. I've only recently bought a Henrob (DHC-2000) torch and looking forward to getting it set up. Cheers from the land down under.
@jerekirkpatrick2092Ай бұрын
It is the brass that you generally get at your local welding supply. It does not come with any certs. so I can't attest to it's purity. Try using copper (electric) wire for filler (non-structural). It makes for a nice fillet.
@redpost2380Ай бұрын
Exceptionally clear explanation Jere. There appears to be much confusion as to the origin of the Dillon MkIV, Henrob 2000 and the DHC 2000 also known as Cobra Torch. They are almost the same. Detroit Torches claim that the idea came from Sweden. This is simply not true. Since the early 70s the torch was developed and patented by Nicholas Thomas Edward Dillon; a proud Australian who lived in 10 East Street Magill in South Australia (1976). He eventually sold the idea to others! However this is far from the end or the beginning of the story. A very similar pistol gripped torch was designed and patented by Edmond Fouche'; yes a Frenchman. (Not to be confused with Edmund Davies who discovered Acetylene in 1836) Fouche' and his other countryman engineer Charles Picard invented Oxy acetylene welding in 1903. In 1919 Fouche' patented the first version of this pistol grip oxy torch. The same Nicholas Dillon acknowledged the existence of Fouche's torch in his 1976 Australian Patent. He ended up using much of the Fouche' torch in his model. Unfortunately one cannot post here on utube the image of the 1919 Fouche torch. He noted in earlier oxy torches (the long barrel type) " the short period of contact between the two gases in the mixing conduit of the apparatus is insufficient for completely mixing the two gases " Anyone that sees his design will note and appreciate the sheer genius of Fouche' who should be given the real merit of what we now call the Cobra Torch.

Power may be out at the gas station also... I've been using 100LL aviation gas from my local airport for years in all my small gas engines. (None of my stuff has catalytic converters). The 100LL doesn't go bad, and costs only a dollar or so per gallon more than regular.
