this is nice, the only thing I'm missing is how to alter the shape of the marker stroke. if you did it like this, the marker stroke is just a perfect circle, I would like something more authentic and imperfect, grungy with some cracks in the stroke. got any tips?
@FlatPackFX3 жыл бұрын
Hey, the stroke path is just a mask so you can go to that layer and then go to the mask settings and change the path by selecting it and using your pen tool. For effect you can apply a turbulent displacement map and use it as a layer mask.

If I could reach out for some help, can someone tell me what step I missed at the 6:30 mark. Russ created the "Main Comp" and says that he can "drag it into this one." Should I be dragging the Main Comp file and placing it somewhere? The reason I ask is because after I correctly did everything up to that point, including the camera with 3D layer, I can rotate the layer on the axis but the highlighted effect does not rotate along with the rest of the layers. What am I doing wrong?
@kushagraverma75094 жыл бұрын
He drags the Paper 2 comp into the Main Comp. Look in your project window, you'll see the comp that you added the highlighter effect in and then drag that comp from project window into the Main Comp.

Great video!... one question, how can I make the start and end of the lines square instead of rounded?
@StephenProffitt Жыл бұрын
SOLUTION Instead of creating a solid, just create a shape layer and have all your strokes sit within that one shape layer, so you will be able to set the lines to that squared-off look if it doesn't no it auto. Line Cap > Butt Cap: • Set the opacity to Multiply • Add Trim Paths > set Trim Multiple Shapes to: Individually Then just follow rest of video for the 3D bit

Is there any alternative software to Adobe After Effects that can do this stuff? Adobe After Effects seems great - but I absolutely hate their subscription-plan. I want to buy a product only once, and then be able to own it forever. I don't want to pay a recurring subscription-fee!

@fjf sjdnx That's awesome, thanks! But can NATRON do "text-highlighting effects" similar to the one shown in this video? (And if it can't turn 2D-images into 3D-images, can it at least highlight text on a document, like in this video?)

Great tut. Liked and subbed. Looking forward to your course launch. I have a question: imagine I want to do something similar but with a much older text (old book, manuscript, papyrus or even stone tablet). Obviously, a modern highlight does not sit well in that case. What would you recommend in those circumstances?
