You are absolutely right! In northern New Jersey they had to enact height laws so they wouldn't stack the boxes as high as they could--as tough as the boxes are I'd guess they could go as high as the tallest crane would lift

Nice design which can fit in shipping containers for easy transport, and then the container can be used too as a central structure. "I have my doubts of this surviving 100-200 MPH winds" If you want that, use ISO shipping containers. They are good to over 150mph. You could place them around weaker structures to deflect wind. Kits exist to add doors and windows, but in primitive conditions you can do that with hand tools and a common small transformer-style stick welder. That's already done in places like Haiti. BTW I painted my roofs white and it's surprisingly effective.
@captainjim63005 жыл бұрын
It is not made from a container it is shipped in one well 16 of them packaged flat in one container. The container has nothing to do with the house it is just a way to deliver these. They are smaller than a container

Wow.. this is a great setup. Someone commented on living in Florida...yaba yaba... here is a thought. If it gets that hot...open the damn doors and windows...step outside. This was created to protect from adverse elements. WHAT A BLESSING! There are a variety of materials even in disaster stricken areas to help insulate it. This isn't a freaking luxury condo. (Re a commenter who said this was meant to kill black people). This is a great starting point...improve from there. GREAT JOB HAITI HOUSE!!

How much does it cost to provide a Haitian family with one of these? And how can we supply homeless people in the U.S. with these? Is the cost similar? Also, if I purchase one for myself, where--in the U.S.--would I be allowed to put it?
@anddihier11 жыл бұрын
It's a metal shed. There are lots of better options out there like campers that are already self contained for emergencies. For something permenant I'd go with building cob homes, they're awesome. As times get tougher people may have to do this living communal on acreage w people willing to help each other build them and grow food. The cost of living could go down dramatically. MAybe I've watched too many prepper shows...lol

Its a large easy bake oven. Wonder how many cakes you could bake in one on a hot day, This looks like a crappy way for someone to make allot of money at the expense of some unfortunate people using the money of people feeling guilty they have a home when someone else doesn't have one. What about just showing people how to build using what is local and that can stand the conditions. it would be very cheep and the people making money would be the community

It's really a rigid tent which is fine but needs to be provided as part of a recovery plan in communities hit, not only by storms and earthquakes but, for the homeless in America and for any and all areas that need housing for troubled people of all stripes. People need a place to get out of the weather, live in some kind of comfort and find a way to participate in a community. Therefore, the housing isn't enough. Maybe this video isn't saying it's enough but, I want to see the videos that show how people are going to benefit and participate in their recovery. Recoveries of all kinds. Let's get it done. At least, let's get a plan. I want to see the plan. Please.

As long as people are kept tied to the banks or companies,they will always be slaves....The poorest countries are always to poor and uneducated. These are the people who need real solutions for their welfare,a government who actually acts on their behalf with real education and proper and honest representation. A house is only part of the solution. The real deal is education and good government. I know the banksters will never allow a poor country to rule itself,so the house is moot.....

That this doesn't result in an insulated enclosure after unfolding has to be a flaw. A solar chimney to provide passive ventilation would be good to include I have my doubts of this surviving 100-200 MPH winds
@captainjim63005 жыл бұрын
It probably does not contain insulation as it would make it harder to fasten together. It would be easier to insulate once on site and cut down on weight although insulation is not that heavy. Would need at least a 5000 BTU AC if not 2 but one may work as small as it is with insulation. Certainly fast to put together, it may withstand a Hurricane force wind but not likely anything much over 75 mph probably a 100 at max. Not sure what is to keep it from blowing over either.

Joe Mi For temporary sites they probably have huge portable AC units. One unit probably cools 4 to 6 of these. Just a guess. They definitely wouldn't be energy efficient. However, usually that isn't a key concern.

One observation: although very easy to assemble (kudos to you on that) the most espensive part of a dwelling is in the finishes. There is no drywall, or interior finishes. After these are applied, how easily will these dismantle and move? Having noted that, it is a very good disaster relief home. Cost psf?

I do not down grade this effort, because the folding idea is a well thought industrial design. But no bath room ?! But no kitchen? Now let me do something for Haiti. $ containers @$2,000 ea. for 44 people from 4 families, sharing 2 full bath, 2 full kitchen, 2 living-dining rooms. It cost the goverment about $1,000 p.p. Per unit cost? How many will fit under an overpass along I-10? Realize that there will be upwards of 140 million North Americans displaced by rising Sea Water by the turn of THIS century. Low-Cost hosing is on my mind for you sheeple. I will be long dead, but my Grandkids might be here...3-D Printing with HEMP Hurds as feed stock is obvious using Geopolymer as a Binder seems the best choice today from my research. Combined with a Mobile (THOW) system of housing for itinerate workers who can be near the desired saltwater frontage as it climbs the shorelines. I envision a system of portable Boardwalk type structures that can shift with the tides mobile units(Park Model RV Types) just plug into and move as needed...High Rises are limited to areas above 350' elevations worldwide...

I mean I like the structure I like to design but the video is not really showing us nothing beat the next time show a little more detail like for into the picture of the front door how you how you enter the unit and go as far as showing a unit already finished maybe a portable toilet shower some type of galley kitchen set up in other words just completed as though if someone was living in it you know make it look like it's livable with furniture or something in it just to complete it but to show it like that it was very poor video very disappointed
