Regarding Mark Shuttleworth’s comment on Flatpaks being insecure, what was the motivation behind that statement?

If we still use X11 is there a way to negate the thing you said in a previous video about the sandbox not working unless using Wayland?
@Trafotin Жыл бұрын
No it's the same thing. You can't stop squat in X11, so just use Wayland and XDG Portals; it's the only way things will get better.

I don't get how people aren't universally adopting flatpaks already, I've been using vanillaOS for about a week now, it's a distro where flatpaks are pretty much your only option, even on nvidia (3070) I've only had two "*major*" problems; 1. Flatpak steam scaled weirdly on my ultrawide, fixed it from flatseal by adding the "GDK_SCALE=2" env. var in. 2. Flatpak VSCode Dev containers extension couldn't see podman, (this one was a pia to fix) Userspace has never felt so good.

They are working on the VS Code in more ways than one; it's more complicated than most other programs.

I use LMDE version of mint ,( I Think its better my opinion) once i install it i removed most of the main packages and replaced them with flatpacks then i control them with flatseal it great.

I like your attention on security. Just all vids really. I've got a serious question. Interested in cosigning or co-creating a noob Linux journey for a gamer who is sick of windows spyware consumer disrespect type of stuff, I'd love to create content and just give it to you or double post or something. If you yt search bulokebois that's the gaming channel (all videos are unlisted stretching years because i do it for friends, not views). I think a lot of windows gamers are interested but intimidated or experience analysis paralysis. Not looking for money. Looking to create something outside the cookie cutter BS on most Linux yt and you articulate Linux well.

I hope you plan on making some video's on core. Even the IoT. There is nothing out there really covers these two things. I think there is a large group like me that would love to know how to deploy these type of systems in like a kiosk or single application mode properly. Then know how to do very basic administration to them, like updating the single application. I work with industrial (factory) computers and systems. (( percent of the time huge amounts of money gets dumped into things like Azure just because it is hard to use another choice. Right now I am trying to make a GL300M open source router do ONE thing. That is to NAT 1 to 1 from this IP to that IP because even if I could find the "name brand" industrial one in stock i could buy twenty of these open source things for the price. anyway SUBSCIBED!!
