I agree that Moira is not the best support, but solo queueing as support in low ELO makes her a must pick. She is so self sufficient due to fade and her self healing, so in ranks where damage and tank are just throwing themselves at the choke point, it helps to be able to escape if a genji or reaper flanks to kill you.

Also, the amount of times I had to literally push with Moira bc the tank was just slowly backing away fro mthe choke point is too damn high (in silver/bronze or QP). I am sure in top500 she isn't as good as Ana, but nade and sleep are meaningless if people immediately wake up slept targets and ignore purpule ones. (also, yeah her skill floor is higher)

Zen, bap, Lucio, mercy, Kiriko, and Ana all deal with these threats easier though. Zen one bursts them and can one shot reaper out of dark step Bap has a high jump and deals absurd damage and can buy himself time to do more damage with I. Field. Mercy can fly away Lucio can run away. Kiriko can either teleport or straight up out damage them if they're a good shot. Ana can sleep them and run away or out duel them with anti and a high damage shot.

Moira doesn't do it the best but she does it the easiest while not needing a teammate to teleport to in Kiriko's case for example. On top of that, she doesn't need to aim as well because biotic grasp locks on to characters within a certain cone. I'm not saying she's the best, just that she's the crutch for low ELO players.

yeah I play support at the exact same rank. it's not always bad but it can be rough sometimes with how petty people get when they feel like I'm not healing them enough. also I understand how Moira might not be top 3 healer at top 500, but I think she's definitely top 3 at least until diamond. my dps are always struggling to secure kills in plat, with Moira I can at least help clean house while still having top healing in the lobby for my out-of-position team.

What flats doesn’t understand is if there is a character that does 300 damage per second but requires high skill and aim and a character that does 100 damage per second and requires very little mechanical skill the high ranks will obviously say 300 is better than 100 but in low ranks they seem broken. They have little idea how to work with mobas in general cuz OW still have laughably few heroes and that;s the main problem of the game. You see LoL and DoTA are both ridiculuosly variative and great MOBAs. Both have only 1(!) map but over 150 heros. Cuz that's how MOBA work - variability is achieved throug heroes not maps really. Facing the same heroes every game makes games the same no matter the map. That's why OW becomes so boring so fast. Facing different heroes every game makes game different even if the map is the same. That's why Dota feels new for such a long time Maps in OW are tiny so it's good to have more than 1 ofc, but we have like 20 and that's already way more than enough. OW desperatly needs more heroes, not maps. Like 10-12 heroes per year at least for the next 3 years. Otherwise it's gonna be a boring ass shitshow again. Ofc blizz are not gonna do that cuz they're incapable of. Doing maps is muxh easier cuz it doesn't take much brain and creativity to invent and balance. Hero - is the difficult stuff to create. Nevertheless, when DOTA was assembling devs (players enthusiasts basically) were able to create 50+ heroes in a year. Surely OW characters are harder to animate but Blizz is actually an $80bil megacorporation so yeah, they totally can do 12 heroes a year. Also graphics and animations in OW are pretty simple tbh. Nothing special. So yeah. Unfortunately we all know they're just gonna suck out our money and don't do shit. I've seen the reaper tech from a couple different videos. I was a reaper main when the game first came out(OW1) and that reload tech used to work. It hasn't worked for literal years as it saved a lot of time on reloading which is why it got removed. I still have the habit of doing the reload but not sure where the information got revived from as those videos are years old and if you actually search up reaper reload cancel the videos that show up are the ones after the nerf and it doesn't work.

As someone who mains support I don’t even disagree with the Moira or support takes. Support feels rough right now. I went from playing daily in Overwatch 1 to barely even weekly in Overwatch 2. I’m just not having fun anymore. The game feels very deathmatchy and supports feel like they have a hit out on them. Which support does well in 1v1s and is survivable? Yeah, Moira. Say what u want but she’s the only one I feel like I can escape with when everybody and their mama is chasing me around like some deadly game of tag 😂 i love Bap but I def live longer with Moira. I honestly can’t see why anybody would voluntarily subject themselves to the torture that is support right now.. And this is coming from a support main. I even got called out for not healing as Moira 🙄 i had 9k heals at the time while our Bap had 5k.. why am I the one being blamed?? Because you saw me throw a purple orb once while you were dead? @@AsiwaritXR I didn’t say Bap wasn’t strong (he’s still my 2nd most played and 2nd most all time) I just said I’ve been surviving longer with Moira especially against very aggressive flanky dps. The amount of effort it takes to be a decent support now explains why I’m put into a lobby faster than I can blink. I mostly play Bap Lucio and Moira. My friend who’s also support mains mercy Zen and brig so we cover most of the supports… except 2. Kiriko is still new and I haven’t put enuff time into her to dare bring her into comp yet. I’ve tried Ana many times and I thought my experience with Bap would translate over… but I’m horrible at sniping and ur as good as dead if I’m Ana lol (I’m plat 3 btw)

idk, the way OW players are annoying just hits different. correct me if i am wrong, but you can't fire right away even if you leap and hit right before you land to cancel the animation with winston. you are cancelling the animation but you are not cancelling the time before it lets you take action again, so for example you can tell by shooting if there's a delay after landing and cancelling the melée. this was made to balance winstons possible dps output, but it does work for a good decent burst window that winstons usually don't have access to, and now you got the 50dmg rail gun charge ontop of melée and landing damage which is 125dmg total which is more than using normal weapon damage before melée cancelling into landing damage that was 100dmg total, and only jumping and melée which is just about 75dmg total. an actual animation cancel is usually when you cancel an ability into another one or one into the same one without time penalty preventing you to do the next move. for example genji, you can cancel into a swiftstrike from a left click reducing how many shurikens you actually toss out but you get to swiftstrike earlier. not every move is animation cancellable but a lot are. for example brigs whipshot, you cannot cancel out of the whipshot with a shield bash, but you can cancel out of a shieldbash with a whipshot. but reinhardt animation cancels constantly with his hammer, just mid-swing to block and such or mid swing into a shatter.

Its insane,i had a comp play last night where the Moira had 4k heal and 8k dmg where i had 10k heal. The whole team was frustrated (me included) because its already hard to keep them alive,but doing it alone is almost imposible. That's because supports are their to support the team, it does not mean only heal. If you only heal as Zen or Kiriko or Lucio or Moira and not try to deal damage then you're just an idiot. I always play Support the way Support should be played.

The problem with lucio, he is made to make his teammates better, except that when the teammates are bad lucio will have no impact . that is why it is not used before diamond. players don't know how to take advantage of speed . after the placement games, I reached platinum, the players don't even know that they just have to stay close to lucio .

Funny Story: I was chasing the enemy Lucio as Bastion, but it was at the tail end of my Turret Duration so I had lost my massive damage output and I'm still adjusting to Bastion's lower fire rate on his AR (for the record, I hate it). However, I did end up keeping pace with him and killing him. I didn't realize what had happened until I saw a green glow against the wall in front of me. I spun around and there was my Lucio standing behind me. What had happened was that he saw me chasing the enemy Lucio, wall rode to catch up to me, dropped down behind me, and hit his Speed Boost to allow me to keep pace with the enemy Lucio. I didn't know he was there until after because I was focused on hitting the enemy Lucio and because he dropped down from above.

exactly, that's why I think a lot of players rate Moira as a top 3 support. she can output a ton of healing and damage which isn't contingent on your team to follow up on. as a plat support the most frustrating thing is knowing how I should be playing and positioning but usually not having a team that knows how to take advantage of it.

animation cancel for reaper is still pretty good, although it doesn't actually make you shoot faster, you could sneak in a melee while you reload. Also if you melee and then look in the top left corner of your screen your arm covers your head hitbox pretty well

I hate bastion because at mid range one of the most deadly DPS and if supported by a whole team and at map that are thight in low rank is just a game of break trough there defense and if they have junkrat or torb is nearly impossible to beat at low rank especially if the team is not communicating, but I'm guessing that at higher rank he get punished a lot more?

@@weebslegacy It doesn't matter whether it's low or high rank play, I'm not even a high ranking player but Bastion still get's lasered by widow or sojourn, and at close range he still gets shredded by reaper. He's much more reliant on good aim in recon mode or else he's just an occasional 6 seconds of no peeking. Try to get behind cover when he's in tank mode, and if there is no cover than rush him. It's harder to hit tank mode shots when they are jumping around you.

I do understand the not wanting to play support, but not for his reasons. I used to enjoy support in ow1, but the meta was entirely different. Now I'm not a competitive player and really only play with a friend or two, but here is a situation I find myself in far more often than not. I enjoy zen most, but I often find myself getting dove by the enemy moria, and a dps or two, sometimes a tank if it's someone like Winston or dva. While I'm trying to get away or fight them off, the rest of my team is playing "tickle the remaining 2 or 3 enemies while still dealing less damage than the support". Just feels like cause dive is so much more popular in ow2, if you are a support like zen and your team doesn't pay attention, you are going to get dove by 2 or 3 enemies most of the time. But again, that doesn't happen when you are actually good at the game and play with people who understand how to peel and have map awareness.

21:47 The Winston animation cancel does not actually do more damage, rather it does more damage in a burst of 30+50 jump pack damage. There is still the same left click lockout on the primary fire like you showed earlier with Reaper. The melee jump pack animation cancel is still useful for securing kills tho. But it does not do more damage overall.

I actually love playing support but sometimes I want a little break. I play Mercy and I’ve been practicing being more of a Battle Mercy because sometimes people don’t expect me to pull out the gun! You know the solution, right? Health packs. That way the healing is on you and only you without having to worry about anything anyone else is doing. Not saying the healer is right for ignoring you (Depending on the situation they might be. Overwatch is complicated), but pubs are unreliable by nature, the more you can rely on yourself for the more consistent you'll be.

She’s not the best but stalling 4 seconds each and every time is extremely crucial to winning or losing a game(payload, robot). The self heal just allows even more time (too bad mei won’t be back until next update ) 🥲

He's fast with his sprint, long range enough to not stick his neck out and he doesn't need a support's attention to bring himself back from low health. If you're going to play front-to-back as soldier then you're better off playing Sojourn or Bastion, his only advantage over them is that he's more self-sufficient.

As much knowledge as Flats has about the game, tracer is definitely not as bad as he's making her out to be, there's a reason why she is consistently seen all across the t500 list's 3 most-played heroes. I'd say she is still top 5 despite the nerfs, it's just more difficult to get value on her, but in higher elo players can still get value with her consistently.

Honestly the healer vid isn’t too wrong for gold to diamond low key, the one thing they didn’t talk about is how good dive dps are, making healers (especially those without escape abilities) be in a living hell scape (and that’s ONE of the reasons lucio/kiriko are hard meta cause they have amazing escape potential)

I can't believe the hubris of "I find this character frustrating to play against in my own games (probably QM, but maybe even *AI* considering some clips here)" becoming "These are the best characters in the game". That means not only have they never seeked out high level streamers, but also they've never even turned on OWL, and they STILL feel so self-important that they tell other people how the game stacks up. It's 100% fine to be anti-competitive, but then you can't care about "best" options let alone dictate them as advice to others. It's a contradiction.

In regards to that support one, I kinda agree. It was significantly worse in OW1 but it’s still not overly great in OW2 (the timers on the roles lie, DPS will say like oh you’ll queue less than 2 mins, try 5 or even 10). In fact, part of the reason I main support in OW is specifically because I refused to play tank (stress) and the DPS queue was abysmal, meanwhile the support queue was a breeze. I’ve had plenty of times both now and back then where I’ve wanted to play DPS, but I have to wait (back in ow1) almost an hour for a game. (Again, ow2 is a lot better with the queue, but it’s unclear what the cause for that is)
