4 end grain boards through the planer so far. No issues yet. The day I gouge my first board I will switch methods 😂 But until then I’m risking it lmao. Love this setup though!

Thanks! If it works then there isn’t anything wrong with it!

Great set of short videos, as an hobbyist I can use a few but always on the will to learn and try new things. I’m adventuring making end grain cutting boards, for friends and for fun. So I’m building a simple and small flattening sled, but I have a pratical doubt I would thank some advice… Fraiser Tornado 3 wing bit (35mm, 10.5 blades) - is my Makita RT0700 up to the job? I imagine I can cut 1-2 mm max, don’t bother making some extra passes until its done… I know it can be complex, but, as a rule of thumb going slowly, what rpm range should I set? Thanks in advance!😊

I’ll be honest man I don’t have the information to answer that for you. I can tell you that I think a trim router is the wrong size to use a bit that large. The most I’ve done with one that size is about 29 mm and that felt like I was pushing it. I honestly don’t have the right answer for you and would not want to give you advice for this. Sorry.

Yeah I tried electric planar "diy jointer" didn't work... Router sled is best because the electric planar jointer I think takes a lot of fine tuning and a bit of a "science project" for me...

@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork10 ай бұрын
They are Ridgid! I’ve been pretty happy with them- I have one in my router and my flattening jig wecncthat.com/product/logan-trim-router-flattening-jig-w-universial-baseplate/

Using a very sharp hand plane might also be a great option.
@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork10 ай бұрын
It’s end grain, so that will be really tough to do. Not saying it can’t happen, just that it would be immensely difficult!

@@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork Yes, that’s true. But it’s possible if one doesn’t have a router. Awesome work by the way!

@@joshuaholt6866 yes sir - you can buy it with or without the universal baseplate! I’ve heard back from a lot of people who say they think it is priced reasonably too!
@joshuaholt686610 ай бұрын
@@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork Thank you for the reply, when you refer to the universal base plate is that the acrylic piece that attaches to the router or the clamping base with all the grooves?
@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork10 ай бұрын
@@joshuaholt6866 sorry man - the acrylic plate is the universal base.
