Hey Bearded, can you use a plain sugar wash or does it have to be inverted sugar?
@BeardedBored3 жыл бұрын
Sure, you can use regular sugar washes. I just like inverted washes because it doesn't have much of the sugar taste or smell, and they ferment easier without stressing the yeast at higher gravities.

Having now watched it all great idea. I've made non alchohollic seltzer in a keb before to use in a similar way. This is better because I don't have to remember to buy the booze. I may have to tweak some of my sugar wash recipes for hard seltzer. My current favorites use zulka moreno evaporated cane sugar instead of table sugar and are spiked with a bit of juice. (my favorites are Ocean Spray Cran-tropical or Strawberry Banana Body Armor)
@barbecuelp77363 жыл бұрын
So how does the cane sugar change the flavor
@olinseats40033 жыл бұрын
@@barbecuelp7736It has a flavor close to turbinado or sugar in the raw, sort of like a hint of brown sugar or caramel. Definitly a more three dimensional flavor than table sugar)

@@olinseats4003 yeah in the USA probably but in Europe especially Switzerland we grow a giant amount of sugar beets. So 1kg of beet sugar is 1chf and 1 kg of cane sugar is 2.20chf but it's still extremely cheap by comparison to any other fermented drink. I start brewing today 😁 and it blows my mind how extremely cheap this selzer is gonna be i don't even have to buy anything i have everything at home
