The reason people say Em washed Jay is because EMS verse was laid years before Jay was sent the track, it was originally an Em and Royce track and Royce agreed to have his verse taken off the track.

This song (along w/ Soldier & Till I Collapse) is what I show to Em haters bc it’s undeniable - even the biggest Em hater can feel the shift in the song everytime Em hops on it - literally w/ just the hook itself when Em is on it as opposed to Jay you feel the energy shift … and Jay did his thing on this track no shade, but as soon as Em hops on, it’s like goosebumps

This song imo is what earned Em the true respect from other rappers..washing JayZ on hiw own shit..yeah not everyone was doing that back then lol. And that takes nothing away from Jay Em is just that good. I personally think people underrate JayZ..his style never changed no but he had wordplay like a motherfucker..he just casually slides the bars in there

People seem to forget that perspectives, values, beliefs, emotions, and everything else, changes as we grow older. It kinda makes me think some of the people that bitch about how he’s changed can’t understand that he grew as an artist and father, because those people either didn’t grow, or didn’t grow enough. So they want their favorite artist to be like they used to be, because they can understand anything else.

This song is Eminem’s originally. He wrote it (the beat too) for himself and Royce originally. Royce couldn’t be on the track for some reason, and Em gave it to Jay. Jay had it for years - with Em’s verses already written - before he put it on The Blueprint. So Renegade is really Em’s track. It’s amazing tho!

@@ghost1012 I agree my friend but the way both wrote their verses are different. With Em altho his verse is spectacular lyrically it's still about him, its about the underdog who was dissing everyone and as a result was being hated on by everyone for being extremely controversial. With Jayz he is not just talking about himself he is talking about every person (not just black) who is from a marginalised community or have had a hard life, hell some of the lines in his lyrics apply to Eminem too. That's why it's more relevant, it touches more hearts, it is more relatable. But it is not as great lyrically. That's why I think it's a tie.

When you were a teenager / young 20s and this is coming out and you're living in that time it was such a different experience. It's so hard to explain the whole Eminem phenomenon back then, but it was crazy for sure. I still vividly remember the days that I bought the Marshall Mathers LP the day it came out and Eminem show the day it came out. I have vivid memories of blasting those on the way to basketball practice. I had to rush across town, to get to the CD the day they released, and back to practice in time😂 I also have a vivid memory of when the blueprint released and me freaking out when I saw that Eminem and Jay Z finally had a song. Only to realize that it was going to be some of Eminem's best verses of his career. 🤯 But I also don't think that m&m killed Jay Z on this, I think Jay Z did his own thing. But I'm biased because they're both two of my favorite rappers of all time. 🤷

Litteraly what life is suppose to be. They are brothers having a conversation from 2 different ends of the spectrum, while ignoring the bull, for the entire world to see. 1 of the greatest songs ever made!

U realize that JayZ stole Nas lyrics while simultaneously hiding behind him for protection. Listen "Nas - Ether" Jay a punk till this day.

I always thought Jay sounded like controled chaos on this. Where he rhymes and the flow should not work, but it does

I heard 50 cent say that hip hop allows people to explore and experience the ghettos and hoods without actually going there...😉✌🏻🇬🇧

I think the most unique thing about Jay and Em is they are both the best at rapping a continuing story that is easy to follow and not just segmented thought. Every word, cadence change and emphasis has its purpose.
