A classic example of less is more. From a European perspective, I have to say I don't understand many of these big houses. Nobody needs 3 living rooms or 5 mini apartments and 20 balconys in a house. Only build spaces that you are actually using. It makes the house uncomfortable and completely inefficient for me. The whole thing was clearly taken to the extreme here. I'm pretty sure that you can achieve a much higher quality of living in a third of the space with lets say 2 normal + 1 main bedroom, but with a huge living room and one huge terrace with a jacuzi and maybe 2-3 small balconys. I also have to say that I didn't like the driveway at all. For me, it has the coziness of a Wall Mart parking lot. Here too, less would be more. Where are the plants, the vegetation? You will never let a heavy goods vehicle with excess length turn there. So make it smaller. The house is too big in every corner. I could talk here for hours. And regarding the finishes: Plastic instead of a slate roof is innovative? Again, make the house much smaller, then you can afford build a proper roof to maintain.

It's far from the middle of nowhere. (Also, weird sidenote. I believe evergreen in the Subaru capital of the world. No matter how rich you are, you have a 2007 legacy wagon or something like that. To be fair Arvin re: backyard… remember Enes showed a complete shower area for a dog, followed by a small fenced in area. This home is in the mountains, where there are bears, bobcats, coyotes etc. To me, this looks like an area solely created to let the family pet out for a bathroom break when not convenient to take for a walk. This is the first time I've seen you state the obvious about TV placement and it's so welcome. This bad habit of putting a TV over a fireplace is just terrible. Most houses do this and it just means everyone has to look up. TV's should be centered at eye level for comfort. Putting them above a fireplace, or, often, off centre isn't luxury. It's literally a pain in the neck.
@daniel_sc1024
@daniel_sc1024 Ай бұрын
One reason is a lot of architects labor under the belief that the fireplace is the focal point of the room (thanks, Frank Lloyd Wright), and the television is some evil thing they wish didn't exist. As a result, they don't accommodate the television, so their solution is to put it above the fireplace.

@@daniel_sc1024 Just telling you what those TVs are for, why they are there. For actually watching TV these houses will have appropriate living rooms or theaters. Your friends might have TVs above fireplaces, but that is probably because they live in a small house that has no space anywhere else. Or they just don't understand why some houses have TVs above fireplaces and think that is the proper place to put one as a a result. The spot above a fireplace is meant for a picture. Remember, in the old days before LED flat screens TVs were huge and required dedicate spaces, they would not have been hung on the wall.

Europe here... nobody wants to live in a castle! Not just because, as we Germans say, nobody wants to pay the heating costs, but simply because such a massive building can't be filled with life! There's a reason why almost all castles here in Europe are museums or hotels. Old manor houses and former (larger) farmhouses with a rebuilt barn, inhabited by multi-generational families or partially used for any kind of offices or workshops, are the "pinnacle". Three floors, probably 100 to 150 feet of corridors per floor... and in this case, also in the middle of nowhere... what are you going to do there apart from drinking more alcohol than you can bring in???

@@ArvinHaddadOfficial I know that there is a German real estate agent living in Mallorca who sells luxury properties and presents them on KZbin. You can find him via his name _Marcel Remus_ As far as I know, there is no real estate agent who presents luxury houses in Germany on KZbin comparable to you, Enes, or other US real estate KZbinrs. Of course, there are a few real estate agents who present their buildings, but these are much more short sophisticated sales videos for architecturally simple houses with perhaps up to 150 square meters / 1600 square feet + garden, and apartments with up to 120 square meters /1300 square feet, that can be sold quickly. Then there are certainly those who, for example, renovate an old house or farmhouse and document it on KZbin, but those are individual projects that span many months or even years and focus on the technical details and work involved. There are some German real estate websites like Zillow (can be found via Google) and you should look at the more expensive houses in e.g. Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Tegernsee and Sylt. Prices in these areas can be at the top end of the price scale in Germany... and yet, you will be shocked, laugh and cry at the same time because of what is on offer when you see the houses and apartments from an American perspective ;) (some points should be mentioned: - the truly wealthy in this country find it very difficult to display their wealth in this way because their wealth is often resented - most Germans who build or buy a home want to live in that home for a very long time)

I have a feeling the owners are saying that in hoping to get a quick sale and letting the new owners deal with 'finishing' it because the whole place is a mess. What even is that yard? Just an open like rock and dirt cliff opening into your central courtyard? What happens when rainwater comes pouring down the hill into there? Does it just flood the house? Bring mud down the hill into the courtyard? It looks like the place was just freshly cleaned up, but what does it look like without constant maintenance probably dang near every day LMAO

Could have been a stunning home. *Edit: I really appreciate that each bedroom has its own washer and dryer. It’s so much more convenient, people are responsible for their own laundry, no one is having to wait on a machine to become available, people aren’t having to lug bags are drag sorters through the house. As someone with an all adult family, who visits me often (and stays in my AirBnB equipped spaces), they appreciate having their own washer/dryer and their own kitchenette. Amazing how visitors arriving at the mansion can get a great view at the owner wiping their butt or showering. Also looking at how much windows & unnessesary corners this structure has means it'll have tons of heat bridges & will be extremely uncomfortable due to the strong drafts it'll have everywhere from the air circulating from those temperature differences. Also heating will cost a fortune. Also, european castles RARELY have structural columns, because the walls are structural & rooms usually not that big that they couldn't be spanned by oak frames. This looks like (even though it isn't) a wood frame cheapo house that they slapped some sandstone tiles on. It's like they designed a castle from a vague memory of a picture of the Disneyland Ciderella Castle. This horrible clusterfuck rates 12/10 on the McMansion scale.

I have to admit-I kinda liked the property from the outside-but it really feels like this property has some red flags. I think he’s right when he said they may have ran out of money. A 4 story home with a closed off elevator shaft, an unfinished attic, and an unfinished basement-and not a single penny spent on the backyard (not even lighting on the big rock). @@blueice011 I disagree with you on this. I don’t think this home is going to go to some off grid naturalist that wants solar panels and to be eco-friendly. This is a luxury home in a secluded area that is most likely going to appeal to a very wealthy person to use as a vacation/getaway home for their family. Most off grid people aren’t looking for washers/dryers in every bedroom and extreme luxury. I would bet that the person that would be a buyer for this home would absolutely prefer the quarter or half acre of flat land surrounding the house to have had some sort of attention paid to it. I’m not saying that they should terrace or manicure 35 acres-I’m saying that they should have done a little something to only the flat area surrounding the home. Lastly-I think that the home being unfinished and the owner running out of money is kinda a big deal. This house is clearly secluded-I cant imagine that it be easy or inexpensive to find somebody to come by to finish and install an elevator. I can’t imagine it being easy or inexpensive to find somebody to come by and finish and build out the basement and attic.

Another enjoyable analysis of this home. It is a beautiful home, but it is clear quite a few things were missed during interior design. Something else I find odd in many of these massive dream homes is the lack of handicap accessibility. If you're going to build a forever home, I would think consideration would be made in case the owners would need wheelchairs or walkers in the future.

Only lived in for 3 months bc the owners clearly gave up on It and realized they messed up. Incredible location and views but this place seemed confused in so many ways, like the owners kept on adding random elements they thought were cool and one day realized none of It made sense together from an aesthetic or functional standpoint. Your main family room has a TV that is 12 feet off the ground, your wine cellar is a storage room in the motor court, your “gym” has a random crystal chandelier in It, you have 36 acres of land but not even a functional backyard. Unfinished attic, unfinished basement, no elevator even tho the home was designed to have one, no swimming pool or hot tub area……. anyone buying this home is going to have to put millions of dollars into It to finish It. This the type of home I would hate to buy, you are essentially going to have to build in the graveyard that was the previous owners’ failed project, would much rather start completely over.

A steam oven is like cooking your food in a really hot sauna, it's literally a steam oven just like the name implies. A convection oven uses hot air by heating metal plates that cover the whole surface above for baking and below for broiling and a fan to circulate the heat, an electric oven uses metal elements twisted into rectangular shapes, like light bulb filaments but bigger and not as hot, and generally allow heat to circulate naturally meaning they don't cook evenly or get hot enough for stuff like pizza. Best option is to get induction (or gas) cooktops and a separate set of wall ovens. Steam ovens break down more often than any other type, cost more to maintain, get really dirty really fast, take up more space than a convection oven and are best used for baking birthday cakes and moist & gooey chocolate chip cookies rather than cooking meat & potato meals, for those I'd go with a speed oven which is a convection/microwave in one. Oh yeah, pizza ovens need to be in every kitchen on Earth. Everyone loves pizza.

Then, seeing the inside, I realized that any buyer would have their work cut out for them. Props to Mikey, though, for pulling off that drone fly-through, through the front doors, and right out the back. Damn, we miss you, Mikey. I do love the exterior of this house, but I'm 100% with you, Arvid, on the interior; it just goes downhill immediately, starting in the foyer - just missing that wow factor. It seems that the exterior was designed masculine and the interior feminine, which is just a mismatch.

A castle with only a 2 car garage? That’s not enough for the residents, not to mention the guests. Imagine they host a party with just 4 guests… They’re going to have 4 cars parked in front, ruining the great first impression that we get when the courtyard is empty. And the courtyard will also contain the chef’s car or food delivery truck. Yuck. They can’t hide the workers’ cars around back, because it’s all just a steep unpaved slope. This channel is teaching a lot about what NOT to do when building a dream house. And I’m so here for it!

Definitely got chapel vibes from the bench area space . I completely agree with your understanding of how there’s not much continuity from exterior to interior . I have to disagree with you on this one. They did not go for a medieval castle look; but rather with an 18th century French chateau look on the outside. The chandeliers and fireplaces and floor on the inside really match that. What throughs it off a little is the sterile white walls and ceilings. They should have added molding, color and wallpaper on the walls and nice ornaments on the ceilings to complete the French chateau look.The domes are really out of place. Also, a water fixture in the middle of the yard and some trees and flowers would make it much more beautiful. The view lacks a lake or two. But that's the problem with Colorado.
