A fistful of winter health:
A balanced concoction of good fats (omega 3), fibre, proteins, calcium, iron, complex carbohydrates, antioxidants, and most essential amino acids, these pinni/ laddoos are a powerhouse of ample heat and energy for the winters. With restricted use of ghee and no usage of refined (white) sugar, these surely are healthy alternatives to regular pinnins available out there.
This recipe by my mother is my most loved and cherished one. Thank you mumma 😊
Ingredients:
Flaxseeds/ alsi - 1.5 cups
Sesame seeds/ til- 1 cup
Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Semolina/suji- 1 cup
Chickpea flour/ besan- 0.5 cup
Dry fruits of choice (almonds, cashews, raisins, walnuts, foxnuts)- 3 cups
Seeds of choice (pumpkin, sunflower)- 1 cup
Ghee- 1.25 cups
Carrom seeds/ ajwain- 4 tbs
Fennel seeds/ sauf- 4 tbs
Black pepper powder - 2 tbs
Powered jaggery - 1 cup
