Met this man once on a drive through Montgomery. We were literally singing this song the whole drive through, then we saw a flea market and jokingly said “hey it’s the song!” So we pulled in. Walked through the door and low and behold - the legend is standing right there. Gives me and my brothers some finger guns and sings “it’s just like a mini mall” Absolute legend.

My favorite part is at 1:51 when he slides and snaps. He knows he’s produced something that will live on forever as the greatest commercial ever made. He’s humble, and yet proud. A very close second is when he says ‘mall’ and his eyes are all wide. It’s just perfection the way his eyes get so large to punctuate what he’s saying.

Mr. Sammy was a very sweet man. When my best friend got her first apartment, he sold her a bedroom set. It was $700 but she only had $500 and he told her that since her friend was educated and a beautiful negotiator(me) that she could get it. We were only 18/19 at the time and he also invited us to his club, named after him Sammy's and we went every Saturday leading all the way up to our 21st birthday. Anyway 20 years later, my cheap best friend still has that bedroom set!

This commercial has a lot to teach us. Low production, cheesy but catchy melody, no theatrics or expensive effects. Yet, sells the product - effectively at that. Nearly 12 million views on KZbin alone and people to this day still willingly search for it. I'm willing to bet this man made this commercial all on his own on a budget less than $500. Likely spent more just to air it. Yet it worked and continues to do so to this day. Often times, less is more. Great lesson to be learned.

+ABK no I'm sorry, Mr. Rodbango... I will leave you two alone now. We could've had a great thing going, Mr. Rodbango. I was listening to a Fleetwood Mac song titled "Go Your Own Way." I will take a cue and leave you two alone. But I'll have you know that I'm a pretty tough customer myself, I was a part of a gang called "The Warriors" in Santa Fe, California. We were almost a motorcycle gang but only my friends Tommy and Dan had motorcycles. We had some Hondas and one Harley-Davidson and they were the cat's pajamas. We almost had them detailed with our gang's name but the Christmas bonus at the Caldor's I worked at wasn't that great that year. Threaten me again and you will get these hands my friend. But The Warriors were a long time ago and I don't swing that way anymore, pal. I will let you get off easy this time. Ms. Alice, you are cute and you can drop the zero and get with the hero if you so wish, little miss. Just email me on Googe if you want to meet up. regards, long john
