This was pretty awesome to see. I love your proactive approach, looking to continually develop strategies to get better and sell more. I’m a big toy and card collector so this was very insightful for me. Cheers!

Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement! We've decided to do more flea markets this coming season once we're back in Florida for the winter (I'm still up in New Hampshire for my carpentry season). We going to try a few different strategies this time, and will definitely be filming it and sharing the results. We're going to be working on selling a lot of our inventory and the flea market will be a big part of that, so please stay tuned. Again, we really appreciate your comment and support.

Thank you for sharing your videos. I wanted to ask do you need a vendor license to sell at the flea market? And when do you need a license for vending? Thank you your time and suggestions. Looking forward to your videos.
@JohnsYardSaleFinds15 күн бұрын
Hi Teresa, Thanks so much for watching! Rules regarding licenses are likely to vary from state to state and town to town. Whoever the manager is for each flea market can help answer questions specific to that market. Also, each flea market is going to have rules about what you can or cannot sell. Some examples of where to start (I'm using our area in Florida as an example) include the flea market's website (e.g., this one in Deland, FL: volusiacountyfarmbureau.org/?page_id=12 or this very large one in Webster, FL: websterwestsidefleamarket.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/webster-seller-rules-5-24-24.pdf), your local department of revenue (e.g. this one for the Florida Department of Revenue: floridarevenue.com/taxes/taxesfees/Pages/annual_resale_certificate_sut.aspx), etc. We don't set up as a regular vendor at any of the flea markets; rather, we use them occasionally, more like a yard sale venue for us to help move inventory since it is easier for us than setting up a yard sale. But we still can't bring just anything to the one we set up at, because it also has some rules. One example is that at the market we set up at, if we had an old laptop computer, we couldn't sell it because one long-term vendor has an exclusive arrangement to sell computers. Just check with your local market before you decide what to bring, and whether or not you'll need a special license. I hope this is helpful, and gives you a place to start. Thank you for watching, and for your comment!

How much does it cost you in space rental, gas, tolls and cost of inventory?
@JohnsYardSaleFinds11 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew! We're setting up with 3 tables for 3 days at this particular flea market. Each day has a different cost (Saturday being the most expensive day). For us, it ends up being right around $120 or so for the 3 days. It's only 6 miles away, so gas is negligible (no tolls for us). Cost of goods sold varies. We rarely have more than 20-30% into anything we're selling. Lots of it is stuff from larger lots where the lots are already paid for (e.g. sold on eBay). The majority of the inventory sells for 2-5 times what we paid for it (we're really selling it wholesale for the most part). Hope this helps! We have a new Flea Market video coming soon! We just set up again recently. Stay tuned! And thanks for watching!

Hi Joe, we were at the Port Orange (FL) Flea Market on Rt 1. We did this same market in the 3-part videos we posted this past December, and then a few days later we did the one in Deland, FL (we did a video on that one as well). Thanks for watching!

If we're ever out your way we'll have to check out what the flea market is like there! Tomorrow we're heading down to Merrimack, NH for a few days off, and Sunday we'll be going over to the Hollis Flea Market (one of my videos from last summer shows that one if you haven't seen that one!). The Hollis Flea Market is where I had my original "Aha moment" with buying and reselling! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! We very much appreciate you.

John, this video was SO informative! Every question that I had while watching, you answered. I sell on eBay and am about to sell at the flea market for the first time and was wondering: Do people tend to haggle a LOT on price? I know that’s the game of the flea market, but if you price something at $50, is somebody offering you $10? I’m just unsure where to draw the line on price. Thanks! 😊
@JohnsYardSaleFinds Жыл бұрын
Hi Adrianna, Thank you, and so glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! In answer to your question: The earlier ones will be mostly dealers and will be looking for wholesale pricing. If you have some stuff you want to get rid of, sell it to them! But start your price a little higher than you'd like to get so they feel as though they got some deal. If they are insultingly low, just tell them, "Maybe at the end of the day, but not right now!" We did one recently and the lowest offer I got on a $50 item was $20, and I said no. Had he offered $30-$35 I probably would have taken it. But 60% off offers insult me, frankly. Yes, people haggle - especially the regular dealer crowd. But, if you have stuff to get rid of, they will buy it, and put it on THEIR table! Happens all the time, and we don't care. Let THEM wait a month to sell it at a higher price; I got rid of it in 5 minutes. I can always get more! Get there early - they'll be waiting with flashlights! They'll see you and know you are bringing "fresh meat" to the market! 😂😂 I hope you have a good flea market! Let me know how it goes, and good luck!

@@JohnsYardSaleFinds That all makes perfect sense, thank you! I like the line about "Maybe at the end of the day," that's a good idea. Extreme lowballers insult me too, even on eBay! I tend to reject those offers simply out of principle 🤣 But my objective for the flea market is to get rid of stuff AND make money, so I'll work on being patient and calmly negotiating, haha. I'll let you know how it goes, thank you! 😁

do you sell at flea markets or online as well
@JohnsYardSaleFinds Жыл бұрын
Primarily on line; we set up at the flea market to help liquidate inventory that doesn't have the best ROI potential. Ordinarily we'd just sell off the inventory at a yard sale, but we don't have enough property to do a yard sale. So it's worth it to us to just rent the tables a couple of times a year. Thanks for watching!
