They used to have huge screens on either end of the carrier hall - one showing a jet landing on and another showing a jet taking off - the whole carrier experience thing was really well done.

I just clicked on this whilst eating breakfast this morning what a super video no music just useful information. I am now planning a visit to this museum. I had no idea. It was so large. The contra rotating props on the Wyvern helped reduce the effect of high engine torque trying to flip the plane to one side particularly on take-off. Acute vibration was less of an issue. The Fairy Gannet had a similar set up with its double mamba engine.

Our airfield at Halfpenny Green. The runway patching was ripped up by a Vampire jet. Jet efflux points towards the ground.

If you are a flyer, you can fly into Yeovilton. Need to phone them day before for permission.

Yeah I am but only PA28's. I knew you could fly into Duxford - I think I'm there next week with my camera! I recall the folks at the JetAge museum Gloucester saying that the tower let you taxi over there too - they do a great bacon butty!
