Does anyone else think the vocal by Peter is absolutely as good as it possibly could be, not to mention the stellar playing?

PG at that time showed a fantastic personal slant to the BB blues and produced a tone and talent for melodious playing which, in my humble opinion, has never been equalled! Nuff said.

I believe this recording is from Roundhouse in London, the last gig Peter Green played as a member of Fleetwood Mac. (He later joined a tour to play after Jeremy Spencer disappeared.) Another exceptional track is "I've Got a Mind to Give Up Living" from Stockholm 1970. Slow blues guitar heaven...

@SilsDrumtiK Peter Green founded Fleetwood Mac, naming the band after Mic Fleetwood and John McVie. The band went through several line up changes after Peter Green left, including the addition of Christine Perfect who married John McVie and later added the 2 Yanks Buckingham and Nicks. Yes, they were once pure blues before transforming into a pop band.

Some of this sounds like material from 'End of the Game'. Danny Kirwan, as brilliant as he was then, is floundering here. Greeny is on another level.
@cgavin13 жыл бұрын
Since time has no meaning in this place, and having a great appreciation for Green and that particular album, I sincerely don't under-rate Kirwan. He was very much the protégé to Green and was no slouch; right to the end. Drugs stole them both from us.. two more tragic victims hard to find. Only Hendrix really hits harder. Kirwan died alone in a halfway house after sleeping rough for decades. Green died circa 1974. The body lingered on for 4 more decades. The three of them had unlimited potential.

@shimergalz Better? the latin percussion and drive of the Santana version still gives me chills. But listen to the rolling, slightly ahead of the beat, drumming of this rhythem section! and the way it starts, a sustained chord, stopped cold by the first beat of the drum.. it's all good, no?

@LongLiveTheBlues Peter was amazing wasn't he. But IMHO THE most underrated Blues guitarist has got to be Johnny Winter. He was the only white guitarist to ever be REALLY accepted by the Black Blues masters. He is also probably the most consistent, Yep Johnny has got to be right up there.

Does this jam sound like Gypsy Queen? Does it remind you of the Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East??? This jam trumps anything Carlos Santana could produce in his entire lifetime (post Munich 3/70). He leached off Peter Green, and took advantage of him!

I love all era's of the Fleetwood Mac from the Peter Green era right up until the Nicks-Buckingham era. The boys in the rhythm section (Mick Fleetwood and John Mcvie) certainly knew how to put together some of the best bandmates around. Even the Bob welch era was pretty cool. Great stuff here though. Thanks for sharing.

@mrJJ123guitars The true version? Peter Green wrote the song, the true version, if you like. He also performed the song in a lot of different "versions," like this one. Santana's song was a cover of the original. He remixed it, not the other way around. Learn before you post.

Well, that's always a matter of opinion. Peter certainly was Gary's superior in this respect (as he was almost everyone else's), but Gary can play with soul, too -- when he wants to. Anyway, remind me, to whom did Peter give his prized Gibson? [That speaks for itself, I think.] But, Peter could still do without the wah wah peddle. It ruined the beautiful and clear tone of his guitar. But, this is hardly worth fighting over -- there are far more important things in life.

While I respect Gary Moore for his talent, he had no ear for tone. He took Peter's gift Gibson and ruined it by adding pedal distortion. WHY!?! Gary used some 1980's metal Marshall amp, and an added pedal to make it worse. Peter Green = a reverb box made by Fender, or Orange, a wah pedal, a boost pedal, and distortion provided by an original Fender Dual Showman head! Perfection!
