Hey. As the father of a sadly successful suicide, I'm actually heartened to hear that music saved a life. My daughter loved music too. I sometimes wish she heard a song that night. But don't be ashamed. You really are blessed. Keep music in your heart. And if you ever get down again just remember how precious life is. Remember music. Remember there's beauty out there. And that the bad feelings always, ALWAYS pass. Stay safe. Bless you.
@Mspoor705 жыл бұрын
Hi Barney, I'm so sorry for your terrible loss. I also wish your girl, your daughter had had a saving moment.I was so lucky. I've no idea if this will be helpful but I can tell you, I was so depressed that I'd say I was in an 'altered state' The song broke that spell. Last second. Your daughter was possibly in a similar altered state. Sending you all the love, Tish.
@barneymiller54885 жыл бұрын
@@Mspoor70 Hey Tish. Thanks for the note. Yeah, we've learned a lot since she left us. In suicide support groups they talk a lot about an "altered" state. Sounds like you're in a better place now, right? Hope so. I use to dabble in music but Charlotte, my daughter truly had a gift. An amazing voice. She went to music school. She could have become an Opera professional. Singing was the one thing that really made her happy. So I know it's true when people say music saved their lives. Don't feel pressured but I actually produced a record with some of her high school friends. We all pitched in. It's pretty eclectic but it's really a life affirming piece. We even took her voice from an audition she did for Sweeny Todd and I got a full quartet to play on top of it. But there's pop & choral songs on there too. Most of the girls from her choir sang on it. It's called Charlotte's Jam. It's on Spotify & Apple Music etc. (Easy to find if you search "Charlotte's Jam".) From one Neil Finn fan to another, I think you might like it. But do NOT feel obligated! That said all the proceeds go to suicide prevention awareness. So if you wanna' give it a click I'd appreciate it. Good luck. Keep listening to music! And playing it if you do that! My best to you & your family. I hope your parents know how lucky they are to have you!! -Barney

Neil is a great, great man -- an admirable, and I hope beloved human. I lived outside LA for decades, and since Neil visits LA often, I was able to see him many, many times -- on his own, with Crowded House, and with the Finn Brothers. He has built a huge body of great music, and a legacy of performances that uplift lives. I joined the fan club, which provided early notice of shows and sometimes early access to tickets. Through the fan club, I was able to see my favorite show of anybody, ever: a small pre-tour performance by the reunited Crowded House, held at the Troubadour in LA, with tickets only through the fan club. I saw the whole show standing by the edge of the stage, front and center, aqnd in addition to an indescribable experience of my favorite music and musicians, I also enjoyed meeting loads of people who were enthusiastic and just plain happy to be there, then. What luck!

@lastrada525 жыл бұрын
Neil Finn is quite a capable musician for the likes of Fleetwood Mac. He writes songs, he's had hits, he sings and plays guitar. His chemistry on stage with Stevie Nicks is great. If he stays with them he will be fine. They will be fine. It's easy to forget what a drastic change it was when Buckingham-Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac all those years ago. Mac was a blues band (with Peter Green) that morphed several times into a pop-rock band with Jeremy Spencer, Bob Weston, Danny Kirwan, then the late Bob Welch ("Sentimental Lady" & "Hynoptized"). Change is in Fleetwood Mac's DNA. Finn is going to be great. Most importantly, Finn seems to work well with Nicks on stage and this seems to suggest together they will survive. Judging from the audience reception -- they've already accepted this new FM.
