I'm honestly pretty hyped to see classic Rhynar be reprinted. I love playing him in commoner but he is definitely lacking so getting a full set of support for him is very exciting!

I personally love the new Kayo because it finally confirms the question I've had from the first time a learned this game's rules. Hero anatomy effects what they can have equipped. This opens up Paraplegic, Two Heads, Three arms, Maybe a tail. Idk but I like the flexibility.

I like the fact that Rhinar has old ability, because he doesn't outshine Kayo. I'm a big fan of reprint's like Ravenous Rabble in Outsiders, because I don't like artificially bloated card pools. In this case less is more!

I don’t even play Brute, but I am really disappointed in how they handled Rhinar. He got reprinted in the Classic Battles set with no new interesting cards, while Dori got the whole package. Now there is a new set with brutes in the focus and yet he gets another reprint. I mean the artwork is awesome but I don’t really like reprinting old heroes. Feels like a waste of space to be honest.

I understand your disappointment but there are plenty of cards still waiting to be spoiled. We still have legendaries and other Majestics that can change deck construction and shift metas Azalea, Katsu, and Benji all got reprinted in Outsiders and I'm pretty sure people within those fan bases were happy to see their favorite hero in a new draft setting.

Sure it would be fun to get a new hero, but you gotta remember Rhinar is still far from LL and the more heroes in CC the less space they get for support and balancing, so it makes sense to keep the number of heroes under control

18:00 I think if they keep creating this exclusives set Heroes. Eventually they would start doing a supplement set for those Heroes, I could compare it to Modern Horizons or Master series of MtG.

For a game that wants to be around in 10 years that feels unfeasible if they print too many heroes with parasitic mechanics in the long run, especially since it feels like they're moving away from supplemental sets now and instead relying on the expansion slot to supply the edge case support. In the short term it's no big deal - just something to keep an eye on in the long term

I think we need to remember there's also now 3 brutes in CC and Blitz so adding another just seems either redundant or the meta would be full of them. I'm sure there'll be new brutes to come in the future but I'm glad they decided to stick with a reprint this time

With apparently 16+ new heroes debuting in 2024 I don't think 1 more brute would be too big of a deal, but like I said, I think it's kinda interesting to revisit an old hero in a new light anyway

This may be a hot take, but I would argue that wager is not a "parasitic" mechanic as much as it is a unique mechanic exclusive to heavy hitters such as elements in tales of aria or light and shadow within monarch, the heroes will get indirect support within the future that works with their class like when lexi was able to utilise many non elemental arrows in outsiders to great success without fully abandoning her initial elemental game play developed in tales of aria, it's hard to say how much the heroes will initially impact the meta but I think LSS wants all hero's in classic constructed to "living legend" eventually.

Its parasitic in that the heroes that care about wager literally do nothing without cards with the keyword. It's very specific and not easily printed in other sets which is what makes it parasitic.

But how is that different from stealth in uzuri? Phoenix flames with fai? Elements with the elemental heroes?

@DrinkingHatorade because Stealth can easily be printed in any set with Assassin and Wager is specifically tied to HVY Stealth is a core class mechanic. Talents are inherently tied to regions of Rathe and form the foundations for entire sets. Wager is a mechanic not easily printed outside of this setting and only 2 of the heroes even care about it. It's just like Soulshift or Bushido from mtg if you get the context

​@@RedZoneRogue I think they obviously want to create archetypes within classes if they were to print assassin they could just as easily print more contracts as they could print stealth or they could make a whole new archetype for assassin, I understand what you mean I think but I just don't think it's to different then design practices they have shown in the past, happy to be wrong just chucking in my 2 cents of opinion :)

What they did with Rhinar really hurts. Hope I'm wrong and the cards in this set really really really help. But this just feels and looks a bit, Hasbro'ish. Ignore what the players actually want and/or need. Lets just pump a product with reprints and minimal imagination for money. Kayo is cool but he really needs a 1h just for him. You now have blue 6's! Uh, no. Not in the way we need with Rhinar. 🤦🏼 Loving FaB but doing this already? Ouch.

Rhinar would be so broken with blue sixes. Good rhinar players knows that and know that lss is wary of that. You either play a more consistent brute without the possibility of 20 unblockable damage, or you rely on rhinar broken ability. Beat chest is a very good ability for rhinar helping him reduce variance. I honestly don't get why people were butthurt about a rhinar reprint. We already had 2 functional brutes, we had our meme with young kayo, and now i believe we have the third functional brute. Look at mechanologist right now, nobody is playing teklovossen and only few fan play maxx.

Very lame take. This is nowhere near the crap Hasbro is pulling lately. The Rhinar reprintbis absolutely fine, providing he gets the Outsiders treatment, ie being transplanted into a new fun draft environment whilst also giving his Constructed counterpart meaningful support that changes his status quo, both in terms of deckbuilding and his spot in the meta. Call it the Outsiders treatment because Azalea, Katsu, & to a lesser extent Benji, received this exact treatment in Outsiders, providing meaningful support and fundamentally changing the way Katsu & Azalea play, & boosting them to the strong meta contenders they are now. The obvious plan is that they're using this set as a vehicle to give that same treatment to Rhinar, which if it happens wouldn't be lame or, "lacking imagination," or "just for the money," in the slightest.
