So glad to hear it! But don't work too hard or fast, or your body will punish you for it. Happy felting!

love the concept :) ...would it be possible to use some sort of mechanical needle for the felting to speed up the process? like a modified tattoo machine...just for the bigger projects mind...I understand the meditative nature of the super mundane :D

great work. I like how you use one kind of animal tissue to recreate another. well...i guess hair isn't technically tissue....i guess it's all just....animal stuff? i agree that wool felt is good for these types of sculpture, it captures the texture of bone quite well. this one reminds me of muskrat skulls, which look almost alien.

Thanks for your comment. There IS now a mechanical felting needle out there; but it seems like it doesn't have the power and 'throw' (depth of penetration) that would work best for me. Trust me, I've looked into it. : )

Can't believe I missed this comment, and years have gone by. I use 38 gauge triangle felting needles. I recently posted a video all about tools...

Do you have a favorite variety of wool, e.g. Romney, Moreno, Corriedale?

Hi again, Christi. I prefer using Corriedale because it needle felts well and I can get it in great volume-- actually I used to always use a corriedale cross roving sold by Ashland Bay, but now with my very large scale work I am using batting instead of roving (the fibers are prepared going every which way in layers, as opposed to being brushed all in one direction) because it saves time and hand labor. I get unspecified but good for felting 'organic wool batting' from Foamorder.com. Hope that helps! Stephanie
