Do you ever get frustrated by the number of Belgian horses who end up in the slaughter pens?. From watching other rescues it seems like an never ending stream. The people mistreating, breeding them irresponsibly and then discarding them when they are too ill or worn down should be held accountable because this doesn't seem to have an end in sight. Its wonderful watching what you're able to achieve with these beautiful horses.

There is information about a petition to make it a law Not to ship horses out of the US. I’m pretty sure It’s on their website. The Big Hoof Foundation. It’s heartbreaking to see how these horses have been treated by the Amish especially.

Horse Plus Humain in Tennessee are currently lobbying members of Congress to pass a law to end the slaughter pipeline. You should check them out.

As long as there is the Amish you will have have their horses always wind up in the slaughter pipeline.

I think they are desensitized more than simply gentle. I think their spirits are broken by old fashioned methods of training.
@geraldineclarke54342 ай бұрын
@@MsDormy I was around Belgians when I was a kid. The company my father worked for had a wonderful show team. They moved the starting gates at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park and did a lot of parades and other public performances. Their trainer was a wonderful, gentle man and the horses he trained were also extremely gentle. I was never afraid of them even though I was tiny in comparison and never had a problem. Helping their trainer with them gave me some of the greatest memories of my childhood.

watching those big boys going through the doorways made me tense. When I had my own place I had a 17’2” Quarter horse (papered). I was in a back room of my house when I heard my little daughter saying “Come on!” She was trying to get my big horse through the dining room door. He had a history of rearing in start gates so you can imagine what I thought! Fortunately, he was good at backing on word command which he did for me. 😅

Hi Julie, I want to let you know that I am a constant subscribed viewer of your wonderful videos and stories about the noble horses you passionately rescue and care for, although I am no longer able to donate. My circumstances have changed drastically after my husband fought cancer for over 4 years and then mercifully passed away after all that pain and suffering. His business tanked during his illness. At 83, I am retired and living off social security and his VA benefits, which is just enough. I cherish your dedication and caretaking, and eagerly watch with everyone and savor the horses rest and pleasure after their hard lives. I wish I could donate but I’m now just making it carefully.
