Flex off!!! Bluedew Flex V Noodler's Triple Tail

Which do you like best? The Noodler's Triple Tail or the Bluedew Flex! Both have a lot going for them.

Great video and covering one of my favourite topics. Flex pens. I have a Waterman’s 52 pretty much wet noodle. That said there is a huge value in having a modern flex that is more amenable to the rigours of normal every day use. Out of the 2 I reckon I’d enjoy the Bluedew more but the Triple Tail could easily be an everyday writer. That said I haven’t always been lucky with Noodlers. Thank you.

Interesting, I’ve had a Triple Tail for about 3 years without any dramas using Noodlers Royale ink(purple). It’s that combination I enjoy most. Of it seems that the pen is more just the delivery system for the ink. With Twsbi you get the pen, the ink and very unique diamond inkwell/filling system. Also the Vac20 portable inkwells for the Vac 700R/mini vac pens. The Bluedew reminds me a lot of the Conklins. I’ve used same nibs on Kanwrites.

Great comparison. Have you tried a Fountain Pen Revolution Ultraflex nib? I find it even better than the Blue Dew (I don’t own the Triple Tail so I can’t compare). And the FPR Himalaya is about half the price of the Blue Dew. If you do get an FPR ultraflex I’d love to see a second comparison.

The question is what behavioral cost is added to the Bluedew for its superior flex performance. How long will the nib last, and how much do replacement nibs cost. How badly does it cut up the paper.

Great comparison. One of these will be my next pen. I haven't wrote with a no tipping nib yet, how much writing do you have to do with one before the nib gives out? That's my only concern with the bluedew.

I'm not too sure how durable the Bluedew nib is but going by how it doesn't rust like regular dip pen nibs do, it should still last you a long time(in years) before tip breaks off. Writing with an untipped and sharp nib is a very different experience, can be downright unpleasant if you do not adjust the way how you write(difference between actually writing vs stabbing the paper) with it alongside choice of paper(picking up paper fibres) mattering more. The untipped nib makes it very suitable for calligraphy but not regular writing

@@echo021 Your writing angle matters alot alongside your choice of paper. Smooth coated paper feels the best for flex writing. The Bluedew nibs I ordered arrived a week ago and the nib is untipped just like a stub fountain pen nib(most of them atleast). While it isn't super smooth(untipped+slightly sharp) it's still much more smoother than a Zebra G and Hunt 101 dip pen nib. On downstrokes, apply pressure as normal but on upstrokes, you'd have to make sure that it's a light touch and the nib is held at an angle that doesn't make it poke through the paper.
