I mean, it kind of makes sense in the entire scheme of where the show is headed as far as powerscaling goes. We got dudes flying, shooting massive lasers, crazy Rinnengan and Sharingan abilities like flames that don't go out and a Susanno Megazord. Kakashi is from the time in the series where these were just ninja, doing ninja stuff and having ninja battles. With where the series is and going, where everyone now has massively large-scale and destructive Dragon Ball Z abilities and giant beast summons, Kakashi's era was just at an end. It was either kill him off here or sideline him for the rest of the series as he watched these DBZ characters fight it out with nothing he can do. RIP Kakashi.

I remember watching this episode with my girlfriend a little while back. I had watched Naruto before but she hadn’t. She knew Kakashi would die at some point but didn’t know when exactly it would happen so I would hype up any conflict he was in to drive up the tension. However, for this one it was like she knew it was the time and as soon as she saw his hand catch the rod to save Iruka she started crying and pleading for him to get out of there-i didn’t even have time to hype it up.

If tendo wasn’t looking for information about Naruto, he would’ve just straight killed Kakashi as soon as he showed up. Kakashi had reinforcement and still got smoked. I get ya are die hard Kakashi fans but the facts don’t care.

I remembered owning this china made device that's like a copy of an iphone. I downloaded the naruto latest episodes on it, and it was during this pain arc. My classmates pretty much borrowed it a lot to see the latest episode since Internet was not accessible to everyone yet. Unless you have your own computer and an internet subscription, the only way to access the internet was to go to a computer shop, but who would want to waste their money just to watch anime there. So I just pretty much put the latest episode there to share around my classmates every week.

Shippuden really embodied why wars suck… no one wins... You fight, you lose. You don’t fight, you lose. Everyone loses. What makes this arc so powerful is that it hits home. Our heroes are people we’ve grown up with. I started watching when I was around the same age as Naruto. I grew up with Kakashi as the teacher. This is the strongest village and everyone is in disaster mode instead of strong mode like in the Suna invasion.
