Demon slayer is probably the first anime where I’ve cried more than once. I’ve cried in others but not to the same degree as DS. Rengoku was that type of character that you meet and you start to like him very quickly. That’s why I think his passing was so hard for all of us to witness. His screen time was short but he left a big impact.

Trivia(s): - "Rengoku" - surname of Kyojuro and name of the esoteric art - means literally "Hellfire" (or I think it would be more precise "Fiery Hell", but the sense is the same) - A severe wound to the solar plexus is lethal. Fullstop. To keep it short, it's a plexus (a bundle of nerves) that is needed to be able to consciously regulate breathing. Disrupted, it can (and usually will) halt respiration completely, therefore there was no way to treat him, even less so to staunch it by breathing. That aside, I don't know what gets me more: the ending scenes per se, the weeping crow or "Homura" (tl. "Flame") as the ending. Probably each and every one... What can I say... "Kokoro wo moyase"
@vincentlefur44908 ай бұрын

@felipeaquitral8 ай бұрын
"Rengoku" (煉獄) is more closely "purgatory". it has the kanji of "to knead (over a flame)" (煉) and "prison, jail" (獄), so it literally means smt like "prison (that is) kneaded (over fire)". "Hellfire" is 業火 ("gōka").

The movie that revolutionalized the industry. What a spectacle. The deep plot, the fantastic character exploration and growth, the powerful, powerful thematic messages. Man i remember seeing this movie opening night at the movie theater with my friends. I had already read the manga so i knew what was gonna happen, half the fun was watching my friends react to everything, but man the movie really blew it out of the water; i didn't cry reading this in the manga but seeing it animated, with music and voice acting had me sobbing. By the end of the movie there wasn't a dry eye in the auditorium. Genuinely crazy how they made us love Rengoku in the span of 90 minutes. Even still this movie brings a tear to my eye at multiple scenes throughout the movie. Loved your reaction to the movie.

Honestly why I love Tanjiro as a MC. People rag on him for not being cooler. But he is a pure heart. He doesn't wish anyone evil even when he is more than justified to do so. He is the definition of "We need to be better!". He could have easily been an edgelord kill all demons type, but I appreciate him still clinging to his humanity. It is such a beautiful sentiment. Also an important note, his kindness doesn't take away from the fact that he is willing to kill demons. That is still the good thing to do, so he does it. But he gives them compassion once they are slain, he doesn't treat them with disdain. He is everything Goku was back in the day. Pure hearted warrior fighting for good. It makes me sad such characters get bad rep these days.

I think its insane how rengoku managed to not only capture our hearts, but also the upper moon demon Akaza (though because of his selfish reasons) to the point where Akaza did not want rengoku to die at all. In all of reality Akaza would not kill rengoku if it wasn't for Muzans orders.

Rengoku was through and through just full of love and positivity. Despite everything he went through and how alone he was in his responsibilities with his family being so broken, he never let it get him down. He would've been such an amazing mentor for Tanjiro, and had much left untapped potential within himself, but the cruel reality is, no matter how much great things you've got going for you, it can all be ripped away at a moment's notice.

In remembrance of Rengoku Here are some Rengoku Fun Facts: Kyojuro loved to watch sumo wrestling. Kyojuro's favorite food was sweet potatoes. When eating them, he said "tasty/delicious" (旨うまい umai) each time he puts one in his mouth. His favorite side dish was salt grilled bream. Kyojuro was never allowed to have a pet because his father hated animals. Kyojuro's very distant ancestor, as stated by Kyojuro, ate a lot of tempuras causing their descendants' and their own hair to become quite abnormal. The Rengoku family has long since had a practice called "Kankagari" (觀かん篝かがり kankagari). For the duration of their pregnancies/gestation period, every seven days the wives will spend two hours gazing at a large flaming torch. This seems to be what causes the men in the family to have flame colored hair. Kyojuro viewed the other Hashira as follows. "She developed the poison! Amazing! She fights on despite her disadvantageous physique! She deserves my respect!" - Insect Hashira "He's even more talented than I am when I was around his age! You're young, keep up the remarkable work!" - Mist Hashira "His senses are sharp! If it's just his shoulder, elbow, and the joints in his wrist, then they're more flexible than Kanroji's!" - Serpent Hashira "He's blessed with a huge physique!, I'm envious! Swinging those gigantic weapons so lightly is amazing! Fantastic muscular build!" - Stone Hashira "His voice is so small! It's difficult to hear what he has to say! He's a hard worker!" - Water Hashira "The trajectory of his swordsmanship is beautiful! I saw a shinobi for the first time ever! I'm deeply moved! He slightly has too many wives!" - Sound Hashira "She utilizes her talent! The creativeness of her techniques is terrific as well! She's a cute junior!" - Love Hashira "The man who pushed the Wind Breathing's techniques up to the next level! How admirable!" - Wind Hashira Kyojuro's level of openness was ranked as 95%. It was revealed in a Taisho Secret in Episode 28 that Rengoku doesn't have a Tsuguko because of how hard his training is and they end up running away. Kyojuro is one of only 4 Hashira that use a normal Nichirin Katana. The other 3 are Giyu Tomioka, Muichiro Tokito, and Sanemi Shinazugawa. In Kimetsu Academy, Kyojuro is a history teacher. Because of his passion of teaching and his love of history, he began hurling his students and starting cavalry battles during class. He's loved by his students, and nobody in this academy has terrible grades in history.
