She 100% believed him about the "new concussive psychiatric treatment" since she doesn't know any better and takes people at face value. It ties back to her being an assassin from a pretty young age. She has no idea what's considered "normal" so buys Loids explanations hook line and sinker. Loid is always laser-focused on his mission and also had an unusual childhood and life, so Yor's uh, oddities, don't really trigger any warning bells. He's been surrounded by other agents, so feats of extreme agility and fighting prowess from women are his normal. Of course Yor can take care of herself. They fit snuggly into each other's blind spots. They truly are meant for each other.

The great thing is that while both Loid and Yoru are at the top of their games in their respective occupations, they both have almost no concept of what a "normal" life really is. So when Loid does some crazy escape from some dude and Yoru sees it, and Loid remarks, "oh, this is how my patients and I interact" she thinks, "oh! I never knew a doctors life could be so rough!" and when Yoru jumps 10 feet in the air to catch Anya's Balloon before it Flys away, and Loid sees it, she remarks, "Oh! I do yoga sometimes" and Loid thinks "that seems reasonable" and they all move on. They're both so used to the crazy and the exemplary world of the top of the top in espionage and assassin's, that as far as they're concerned, what the other can do *is* normal. It doesn't ever seem to occur to them that the other person is off in any way.

Honestly the BEST anime proposal ever 😂 Also this was such a great glimpse of how great Yor and Loid’s chemistry is. My favorite takeaways is just how honest and genuine Loid was when he was defending Yor at the party; They both are very alike both in how Naive they are to “normalcy” but also in how much they sacrifice themselves for something bigger than them. My favorite couple 🥹💗 Also need to add my fav moment of Loid patting Anya’s head comforting her that she isn’t the problem 😭😭😭😭😭👏🏼

This show does such a good job at sprinkling little details, like how Yor's mean co-workers were gossiping about a pervert who broke in and stole the personal info of women and maybe Yor could go to the party with him, and it turns out the pervert in question was actually Franky and he stole all those files to give them to Loid so that he could look for a wife, or how during their phonecall Yor's brother Yuri says he worries about her because she's really gullible and kind of ditzy and we see her miss her co-worker's joke about putting boogers in her boss's coffee and later she believes Loid's crazy excuses about his patients so easily that Loid himself is confused about whether she's actually buying them or just playing along.

The way they set up the marriage proposal with the words "Until my mission/Until my killing... do us part.", makes me feel like the only way this ends with with them actually sent after each other because of their jobs, and having to eventually deal with the internal conflict of suddenly knowing how much their fake Family actually means to them deep down.

Those who didn't have any strong attachments like a spouse or family were met with suspicion and the hysteria result in a lot of innocent people being persecuted.

One thing that is crucial to understand here. This was during the cold war, sometime in the late 60's or early 70's and people were fed the idea of spies being everywhere. Especially in East/West Germany, that this anime is based on. Combine the fear of a war (even a cold one) with how petty, some people can be and you will get A LOT of reports for even the smallest things. I am quite sure that some people, in the real world, actually got reported as spies, just for being single or loners. My point is that Yor is actually facing a real and serious threat here.... even though she is a citizen. The premise for SxF is pretty solid and the world they live in, is not too far off from reality (I am talking about the world... not the characters).

I absolutely agree. I'm surprised at the number of reactors who don't understand the real world setting Spy x Family is built on. The cold war ran from the late 1940's to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. During that time, paranoia about the intentions of the other side was constant as was the propaganda manufactured by East and West media. The Red Scare and Congressional hearing to determine whether American citizens were communists happened in the 1950's. On the other side of the Iron Curtain, the KGB was known for rounding up citizens and shipping them to gulags in Siberia never to be heard from again. Following social roles was important. People who went against expectations were undesirable and suspicious. Being different was not a favorable ambition. Furthermore, it was not uncommon for citizens to report their neighbors to counter-intelligence agencies over petty disagreements. Mistrust and panic kept the citizenry in line and those in power secure.

My favorite moment in this episode, is when Twilight praises Yor in front of the party. Because even though he is literally a professional at lying (and lies all the time) you can see through his comparison to his own experiences through the flashbacks, that he wasn't lying in the moment. Twilight read Yor's folder, he genuinely knew her life story, and he genuinely admired her dedication to providing for her brother. This small detail clues us in on the fact that despite their entire relationship being a facade and lies to serve their own goals, it is still a relationship built on genuine respect and admiration. Just like a real relationship. Now... Twilight will have a *lot* of work to do to get to the third important pillar of any relationship; Trust. But it's still a good start 😂

I think that if you want to start something other than fight and dark anime I propose you two of my favorites Shojo anime. The first one is Fruit basket 2019 version, the MC was like a second mom for me, she taught me a lot when I first read the manga. All the characters are really interesting! The second one is Akatsuki no Yona. Yona (the MC) has for me one of the best character development! It gets just one season of ~25 ep (Volume 8) but has actually 41 and it's on going so you can read the manga after finishing the anime. The story is also pretty pretty good !
