All the very best, and stay safe over there. 11 degrees C top temperature in a very cold start to winter in this part of southern Australia, so enjoy your summer!

It's certainly a different sort of flying. Paramotoring does give more flexibility.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 Paramotor can land in a 30 meters normal terrain. A nano trike still need at least 150 meters flat surface. That is the biggest advantage of paramotor it's like a helicopter that burn a fraction of the fuel.
@GolfFoxtrot224 жыл бұрын
And this is hopefully what I was trying to get across, they are different. They do different things and that is why I like both. Although I never need more than 50 meters for the PeaBee on ground roll out.
@miguelantonio71354 жыл бұрын
@@GolfFoxtrot22 But 50 meters is when you touch terrain until stop? Or with approach contact with terrain and stop?
@GolfFoxtrot224 жыл бұрын
Yes the touch down and stop, there is no way I could do that. With my Hadron I can't come in like that either. From 50 ft up it tskes 120 meters to a full stop in light conditions. As I've said, I'm not saying one is better, just different.

Hi Giles... I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I’m an airline pilot in the UAE but have recently taken up paramotoring. It’s not my first foray into flex wing, I used to hang glide 30 years ago in Sussex but that’s another story. Quick question, I notice you often visit airfields and make use of the RT ( looks like you have an Airband ). I notice you are using a personal call sign, what are the regs, are you allowed to make one up or did you have to apply for it? I assume that you need an RT Licence for visiting Licence airfields right? Keep the vids coming, I’m enjoying them and like your honesty.👍..Mark
@GolfFoxtrot224 жыл бұрын
Hello Mark, yes I am using an Airband and yes I do hold a RT license. In the CAP 413 it makes reference to call signs for aircraft such as Air Cadet aircraft that don't have G regulations. I have over the years used non standard callsigns to Swanwick, RAF units, civilian ATC units with a unique call sign and there has been no issues. The 413 was written around all aircraft having a G Reg or a flight number. I feel its a grey area but I'd rather follow the near Air Training Corps convention of letters and Numbers.
@markjohns46964 жыл бұрын
Golf Foxtrot 22 .. Thanks Giles, I’d had a look through CAP 413 and not really found anything specific so was being lazy really asking you. As it happens my UK home is quite close to you near Wellington and I’m occasionally up at Dunkeswell where my wife and I have a share in a PA28.. I’m flying a Maverick with an MY20 under a Roadster 3-26m in Dubai. Might catch up one day somewhere, cheers for the info, just got to chose a suitable call sign now.

Best of all was that attitude you took this time when you said after landing back "not the prettiest landing but I'm down and nothing is broken" as I said before that is the perfect attitude to take i.e don't fiddle with it once your safe and the aircraft is secure. I know you don't like the backdrop, sorry it's staying..haha. It was certainly a day to take the first landing and be on the ground. I'm feeling a little bit more dialed into the Peabee. You can always go around, DO NOT feel pressure to land off every approach. Your limits my grow a bit with experiance but good to know what they are for you, not like to have wind speed given by ATC, so a good wind sock that you know is required. Good to stretch your legs. Funny to listen to your in flight chat, could see your thinking was very much like my own, during my first flight.
@GolfFoxtrot224 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree on the point of I can always go around. I was balancing my need to get down with always just putting my foot down and waiting for the perfect conditions. If I don't commit I won't learn. I'd had barely 10 hours on the machine at this point. Just happy to be flying.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 WImp out and get it right rather than force yourself to a limit. I always look at it this way if I go around I am having another circuit to gain experiance. Just because it can be done, is not an instruction to do. Great video Giles 👌 What crosswind limit did you decide on as a go, no-go for future flights?
@GolfFoxtrot224 жыл бұрын
Having a 9 Mph 90 degree crosswind limit was almost too much for this light machine at my skill level. It might not be obvious but I started to roll. My left wheel came off the ground. Pulling down on the wing only made it worse so I steered away and scrubbed off the speed with my feet. 9 mph into wind would be fine, I've flown in that before, just not completely cross. I'd rather be safe than bend anything.

Because the Peabee just doesn't want to come down, the bar was fully in. I fly from this site all the time and know well. It was overcast and very little thermic activity. If I did start to sink, I'd just put the power on, absolutely no issue whatsoever.

Golf Foxtrot 22, planning on engine performance is not a plan- it’s a hope. Engine failure is more apt when performance is demanded after low-rev cooling- failure on approach when a slowed engine is suddenly spurred into action is a classic mode of failure. For sure, conditions can’t be judged from this side of the monitor- I did not intend to speak merely to this day, this time, but the risk of established habit and expectations. About a month ago, you said you were relatively new to flex wings, looking for feedback; generally speaking, new pilots under estimate potential for mishap and over estimate their capacity to respond. That may not and need not be you. Conditions that can only be judged from this side of the screen by a few indicator in a video are uncertain; when seen before, not mentioning potential consequences would be a disservice.
