Hi Giles. It was good to chat to you last week. I finally got round to seeing this video - nice one! Yes - it's really strange that we can see where we plan to land, yet have to wait quite a while before arriving at it!! Having spoken to the owner, Truro airfield seems secure for the future and our new sub-70 group (South West Subbies) are lined up to help with some TLC jobs next week. Maybe next year you'll be able to come down to see it for yourself! Cheers John

Yes, I too am envious of your land-outs. Trees and power-lines are common. When hang-gliding over the same area with the exact same wing, I'm un-worried because you do the bird like stop flare then. put it on you shoulder and walk. Great looking scenery, nice flight 😎👍.

Hi Blue, I start looking for fields near roads and an exit now so if the inevitable happens, I know I can get the aircraft out. I'm sure there are worse problems to have while flying in the UK. How often do you get out to fly?

Great to see you back up in the PB Giles. I flew into a new farm strip (for me) last Thursday (the longest day in 2024), with my instructor who was revalidating a flexwing pilot. Good bunch of welcoming flexwing guys there and the exciting delivery flight of a brand new Deltajet 500. As an unexpected bonus, my instructor decided the return flight was time I attempted my GST, which I'm pleased to say, after a lovely smooth sunset flight, I passed at 21:45. Time to register the PB methinks?

There are the occational days when the 214 is not much help. The Sky Demon heat map was interesting for me. I am like you I spot the airfield I have planty of time to prep slow down apply flaps but I often ask when I PPR if I can cut the circuit down in size especially if I will be near my fuel duration.

@GolfFoxtrot226 ай бұрын
Hi Rob, yes a nice external aerial, brilliant reception, although initially it was a bit fiddly. I made a 150mm Square aluminium ground plane that I riveted to the nose cone. I did a test on the ground a while back and Paul B heard me 10 miles away clear as a bell. The aerial is the one from Micro Avionics

Hi Tom, as I was departing back to Glebe Farm, one of the fixed wing pilots said it was a bit bumpy, I would have said it was almost pleasant ( insert the occasional thermal bump). The joy of flexwing, you just let the wing do the work. How are tricks in your part of the world?

@@GolfFoxtrot22I’m beginning the build of three ground-mount solar arrays since it finally quit raining here.The mounts are partially of my own design and I made some errors in measurement of custom made u-bolts. It cost me some time and cash, but I’m back on track. Really enjoyed your Florida vids and always like your trips to new airfields! Did you you get introduced to Iced tea or Sweet tea in Florida?
@GolfFoxtrot226 ай бұрын
I'm glad you enjoyed the Florida videos. It was such an experience. Your solar arrays sound interesting. Is it to charge an off grid system? I've tried Iced Tea before, it just feels wrong when I really enjoy warm tea with milk.

@@GolfFoxtrot22 I have about 18kwh of storage and a large inverter and a panel that senses an outage and switches to battery. Just beginning the build/installation. The grid here is actually pretty stable, but it wasn’t always and early and heavy snowstorms sometimes cause the trees to collapse onto the power lines. We have lots of sun here, so why not put it to use for something other than fading paint and making my lawn turn brown! Regarding tea, we have a good stock of Tetleys and an electric kettle. Been looking at a Paramotor, but what kind of money are these to get up and running with training etc ?? thanks :)
@GolfFoxtrot226 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, there is a slight difference between the 2 types of flying. A fellow vlogger "Paulieb796" is just about to release a video that covers the costs of flying. Just remember that learning to fly is a journey.
@PhantomMark6 ай бұрын
@@GolfFoxtrot22 Yeah, I am very familiar at the differences between the 2, in terms of the machines and how they fly, it is the cost of ownership and qualifying difference between them I am not so sure of tbh ?
@GolfFoxtrot226 ай бұрын
The main difference between paramotoring and Sub70 flex is the training for flexwing can take slightly longer but the costs are pay as you learn. Most paramotor courses are payment upfront. For the price of most paramotor courses, you'd get 17 hours flexwing tuition ( for note: you would need a minimum of 25 for your full NPPL licence). If you were to keep your aircraft at a hangar, then those annual costs need to be factored in along with you annual insurance, even if you fly it as a Sub70 machine. PPG has different costs but it also has a smaller flying weather window. I hope that helps.
