Every position gets to “ do the marking” and everything else for that matter. Every player has to be able to kick and mark etc
@macdac98612 жыл бұрын
No it doesn’t matter if your teammates are under the drop of the ball, it’s see ball get ball. You where right about the courage aspect as well, there is a saying in the game- When it’s your time to go, you have to go

Teams have marking bags that they use to practice specky jumps, so players get used to jumping on their coaches and teammates.

These AFL reactions are popping off again brother. I always thought you were my fave AFL reactor cause you seem to get the skill based off your own experience with sport in real life. Alot of people ATM phoning it is as simply fans and that never truly understand how hard this shhhh is.

in order for a mark to be a mark you have to have the ball controlled for a seccond or two without it touching the ground

Dor, the big black guy with the shoulders is 6'6.5. Natanui, Fijian background is 6'7. The blast from the past is 6'7 climbing over someone who was 6'8.

A player can mark a ball anywhere on the ground, this is a great spectacle of our game. You really have to experience the excitement of a game by going and watching it live. AFL is the greatest sport in the world.

Your eyes are watching the ball in flight as are other players close by,it’s hard to describe but you just jump and if someone is underneath you,that’s when you get the ride.If the ball comes out when you hit the ground it’s the umpires decision,not always correctly of course (Ablett v Pies)
@nickwhan922 жыл бұрын
Loving the reaction! Just wanted to clarify something small, early in the video you mentioned someone "marking their teammate" which doesn't quite make sense. The mark is the catch itself, so you can take a mark over someone but you can't "mark them". Hope that makes sense.

Just got to the point where you ask if you're using the terms correctly or not... no need to apologise, you're learning the game and the terms that come with it!

Ottens mark against the Swans player was gold. Not only did he leap all over him but he further humiliated him by holding his face with his thighs in a vice like grip and tea bagged him.🤣

Ripper of a place. Great to cycle both sides of the river from the city to Freo. Beaches outstanding, yet the best in my opinion are the southern beaches, Warnbro Sound, Shoalwater Marine Park and Long Point, however, Cott, Trigg etc. get most of the exposure.

Everyone marks, it’s a fundamental way the ball moves across the field. The positions aren’t as specialised as in American Football - really no other sport has positions / roles that specialised, like in Rugby you have to be able to pretty much do everything to a degree and do it continually for two 40-minute halves. I do love American Football but it’s so different it can skew perceptions of other sports
@josephbloe4412 Жыл бұрын
Lol love watching your reaction a few things: To take a mark, you don't have to land it, just gain possesion. The person you mark on is a step ladder, you sit on their head or go for a ride. When you complete a mark of amazing quality it is called a specky. When it comes to a specky anyone can get it. We have this here, check out the USAFL, its this game but at a much lower level.

If you can get a reel of the Rioli players, brothers, father's and various family members that would be great. They were so quick, they weren't big men but he'll they could read the play. You sort of wondered what they were up to and then bang, they'd swing the tide of the game. Brilliant players.

[3:13]You said, "That's a score too huh!". Unfortunately no, its not a score, its a mark (catch). He now gets a free kick right in front of goals and will undoubtedly score when he takes his kick.

It's hard to set yourself in these contests. Usually it's the guy at the back of the pack waiting for the ball to spill out. When they see it is falling shorter that's when you hit the pack over everyone. As kids we play king of the pack and we're all jumping like this

Dawes, the big black guy is only 6'6, maybe 6'6.5 but he had the best body in the comp. Those shoulders man, wow. The Gary Ablett mark was BS bcos he didn't control the ball at all. It is about having control of the ball. They put him in bcos he was an amazing player but that wasn't a mark.
@archcollie57082 жыл бұрын
This is not American football (pansy hand ball with pads) nor is it rugby (bull fighting) or soccer (head butting and dancing). This is Aussie rules football, and it's older than all of them. It's fast, tough and spectacular. AFL is a 360 degree, high scoring, non-stop game. Oh, and whatever position you play, you must be capable of taking a specky (spectacular mark/catch) or you wont get a game. Nice reaction, but you need to watch the latest rules vid produced by the AFL, "What is AFL" so that you talk sense.

Didn't see the best mark , any vertical leap, like Boustows leap on the spot no sit, no run up , just jump 6 ft in the air , that is why Smiths grab is better than Moorcroft, having said that , the truth is it's stupid comparing marks , were they all not cheered , were they all part of why you go to the footy, what a game , it gonna be the ultimate football code , it's well on the way ,its just the size of the ground , now if every country played cricket , but its been established in America since 1996 , and growing , and getting bigger ,harder faster , and a lot of other places play it , all yah need is a ball ,
