If you guys get this and you can't tell which way is the top. Look on the back, and there should be a three spoke rubber thing with the wiring coming out of it (to match the three spoke Mercedes Star design). The LONGEST spoke points to the top. This star DOES have a top, you can't put it in any which way you want. Look at the back to determine the top. Otherwise you might end up trying to force it and crack the plastic housing or break your star. It does take some force to get in.

I have a 2017 CLA250 4MATIC and my wires are different than yours. For anyone with the same year/model it's the solid yellow wire on the passengers side headlight than you are gonna want to T-Tap into and then I grounded it to one of the white screws going into the frame on the perimeter of the engine compartment.

I don’t remember. Just watch the video and pay attention. If I said I had to extend the wires, then you’ll need to extend the wires. If something is included, I’ll show you it’s included. It’s all in the video.

Hi i tried to connect it with the headlight fuse but power is on/active all the time even with the headlight plug, power is always on even when you lock the car. I don't know where to connect it. My headlights are xenon on a Mercedes a class w176 2016. Any suggestions?

That’s because that connection is an always on. You need to use a test light pen or multimeter to find a connection that turns on and off with the key.

@@TheFlexxGarage I used a pen/test light but to find one when turn on the light that can never happen with xenon light because as i said before there's a controller inside the headlight and i think that the light switch from the inside the cabin only send a signal and not a positive current cause i tested it and the tester doesn't went off even when the car is locked (Mercedes a class w176 2016 face lift xenon headlights). Please if someone have any suggestions I appreciate some help. Thanks

Depends. As mentioned in the video, mine twisted right out but some you need to remove clips on the back to pop off the star. Just depends on the grille.

It depends on how it’s wired up. Mine in the video is wired up to turn on everytime the car is turned on. If I tapped the headlights for power, then it would only turn on at night. It’s been years since I wired up mine in the video and still works 100%. No issues. It’s not like I drive more than an hour or 2 hours a day. It’s not like it’s on 24 hours a day.

It takes some stamina indeed, but should work on the oem grill. I noticed recently, that it's almost impossible to take it off on an (cheap) aftermarket one. I had to modify the clips a bit to make it smoother. But you need to take the grill off first to do that... Good luck!

If you don’t know how to test a fuse or test an open fuse spot to see what works when the key is in the on position, don’t mess around. You’ll cause damage or can injure yourself. Take it to a pro at a shop. Fuses aren’t for beginners. I’m not being brash. I’m just telling you how it is. My video is what I did to my car. It’s not a video telling you what you should do. Everyone is responsible for their own installs.

Alex Bro... I hope you don't have distronic/distronic plus on your car... if you put that illuminated star on your car, you DP will act up. I have a friend on the MB dealership and have also wanted the illuminated Star along with distronic plus, but found out this can not be done because the LED's in the star will interfere with the DP radar function. Basically EMI interference. At least this was what I was told, but... if you have distronic plus and after you hook up the Illuminated Star, see if your DP still works like it's suppose to and let us know? Thanks.

This car doesn’t have distronics. I already mentioned that in the grille upgrade video months back. Most aftermarket stars (including this one in the video) are not compatible with distronic and it’s sensors. I wouldn’t be putting it on if I had distronics. I do my research on all the mods I do before I do them and share with the community.

Looks like the Illuminated Star is on the exterior while on an OEM Distronics Star it is on the interior. Just an observation. Is this correct? Just want to make sure while considering my purchase of the item.

its a regular star on the outside with a glossing back ground. That's it. It's not completely flat with a glass-like layer like a true distronic star and can not be used to replace a distronic star. The previous star I had on the car was a "distronic style" star with no sensors or anything. It was purely for looks but it didn't light up.

Nope. Needs to tap to headlight or fuse. Needs a power source that turns on and off with the keys. You can’t directly connect it to the battery.

From what I've seen online, there is no way to directly tap in the fuse box like how flexx does it on this video. You will have to slice into one of the wires that lights up the low beams.

You do know that my car does not have a distronic star. It's a distronic "style" star that i upgraded from the stock star. I completely already went over this in my grille install video. I wouldn't be changing it if it was distronics because almost no aftermarket star works with the distronic system.

No clue. Mine is still working and I wired it up to light up everytime I have my car on while most people only have it lit up at night. So I’ve been using it a lot more than most people. I think it’s been about 2 years since I installed mine and no issues.

Hey bro, Ik this vid is old but I followed step for step on my 2015 c300 w205, got the fuse tap for both the blue and 5 amp fuse. Black wire to bolt, my meter was reading 15 on the connection piece for the extension wire. Plugged in the emblem and nothing. I even got the emblem replaced with a new one and still nothing!💀 please help 🙏🏽

Did you test the star off the car to make sure it works before installing it on the car? If it does work off the car, then there’s 3 possible issues. 1) your black wire ground is not grounded to metal. Sometimes you need to scrape away some paint on the metal surface so they black ground wire can touch raw metal. 2) you didn’t tap to a power source that turns on with the key turned on. 3) you tapped into a power source that only turns on when it’s dark outside. If that’s the case, you can only test the light when the light sensor in the middle top of the windshield detects that it’s dark outside.

Yeah, not sure but there should be a fuse that powers up and down with the ignition. But if I was to tap the headlight, I’d use an inline fuse to protect the system.

I looked on dmp but they only have them for the c class do you think it will fit the e class also??? I ordered a couple from ebay but they were thrash and didn’t fit and had to send them back. Wish i could help but I don’t really know for an E. One would assume they would use the same star as the C (to cut down cost) but I can’t confirm that.
