One of the things about Tubi that I like is that when they ads do play, they aren't suddenly and incredibly loud, like others do. Nothing like watching a movie then suddenly having a commercial screaming at you and rushing to turn the volume down, then having to turn it back up again when the movie starts. That never happens with Tubi.

A way to avoid being unable to find movies on a streaming service is to actually own hard copies. If you own the blueray or DVD a streaming service does not have the ability to determine what is and is not available. Subscription streaming services suffer from the same basic flaw as satellite tv or the old cable tv. Most of what they offer is stuff that does not interest you. For the amount of content you actually enjoy, buying the movies on hard copy (especially the older or less well known stuff) is a better move financially. For the "free" streaming services, you have to sit through a load of commercials. You might as well just watch broadcast tv. Regarding streaming services in general - just because a technology is newer, doesn't make it better. For every advantage streaming services have over owning a hard copy, there are three or four disadvantages.

Das Boot is an excellent movie. They got the cramped feel by actually building the central parts of a real u-boat. The story is that the film makers went to Blohm and Voss in Germany, wanting to see if they had kept any plans from WWII for a u-boat. They sort of said "Oh? Like these?" and opened a drawer full of plans. They even made a full sized u-boat for the external shots and it could move under it's own power and "mostly" submerge.

Tubi is okay... but : - movies are only 1280p (or 720p as per the "proper" reference) - big name titles are rare, most movies are straight-to video and low budget projects (which is a hit & miss ratio for what is "good"). - downloading is a pain... I know of better sites that offer 1920x1080p quality, allow easy download, and offer TONS of big name titles, spanning many decades. I didn't know ads were a thing on Tubi, perhaps cos online playback doesn't work for me, hence why I download.

Thanks for the "heads up" on Red Green!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Red!! No idea his show was on there. As for tubi, watched a classic last night. Bronson, in Hard Times. Great flick! Highly recommend it to anyone whom has not watched it. Seemed to be a minimum of commercials, too! I'm an "indie/foreign film junkie". Have been for over 4 decades. While I always like your "pic's", whether I'm really interested in them , or not, I must make 1 comment. I saw Buffalo 66 at one of the "art flick houses" in my town, the week it was released, after rave reviews. Don't hardly ever 'pan' a movie such as this, but I must say, all I got from it was "a depressed feeling". Acting was adequate, I guess, but as a film, it did nothing for me. I watch all you reviews, & the only other film, I found to be so depressing was "Killing of A Sacred Deer"*. Yeah, "that depressing". 😢Just me, I guess. *full disclosure: COULD NOT finish this, as TOO depressing Last thing. Seen most of these, except "Memories". Going to watch it tonight. I was so sad when "INK" left Netflix in around 2013ish. I've never seen anyone talk about it and no one I know has even heard of it. Its definitely a must see! And "MEMORIES" is very STUDIO GHIBLI so it's awesome.

Silent Rage with Chuck Norris. A vastly underrated and highly entertaining film

Vincent Gallo played a vampire once; the end scene of that film is fucking brutal. It's almost on the same level as the rape scene from Irreversible. The great thing about Gallo is that he looks like he could be any of those evil characters he plays; it leaves you wondering if he's ever taken things that far in real life.

I love Death Proof - the structure is absolute genius: it's (SPOILER) a double-feature within itself, each half representing a different kind of grindhouse film. The first is the nihilistic, gritty vibe of Last House on the Left, and the second is the silly summer fluff of a Ron Howard car movie like Grand Theft Auto - but because we don't know that going in, the ending of the 1st story is crazy shocking and it makes the audience terrified for the women in part 2...but then it gets to shock us AGAIN by revealing that now Russell is actually now in the punchline; he's the idiot villain of a Smokey and the Bandit style film, and gets cartoon comeuppance. Massively underrated, hugely funny film, and it's 2 of my top five Russell characters in one.

This was the reason why I quite liked the horror channel cos these are the type of half decent films they would put on there. But since they changed it to "the legend channel" everything is either old, seen it many times before or plain crap. I'll give this tubi a try.👍

One of my favorite college roommates turned me on to Buffalo ‘66. He had a thing for Christina Ricci. Don’t we all. I’d totally forgotten about this little gem.

I love Tubi. I had NetFlix for month and couldn't find anything that made me want to continue with a monthly charge except "Longmire". There are so many great things on Tubi. One Australian TV series I really found excellent was "RUSH" and there are others like "Sea Patrol" too. The characters are what make these two series worth watching.
