I wonder, if the fan asking about Sebastian Moran at 17:43 was on to something. Moffat looked a bit strange during this question, did he? Like a sudden "Oh, somebody asked a question that hits the mark, but quick, I have to hide my reaction and make a neutral, almost indifferent face." Also I interprete Gattis' reaction as that he gave a "Oh, good question, now I have to be careful" eyebrow raising plus mouth movement and a "who knows, everything is possible (I know Moran will play a role, but I won't tell you, nor will I deny)" shrug and answer. Also watch this moment in slow motion. There is something about this topic. Maybe there will be a new villain, who has a similar function as Doyle's Moran in his connection to Moriarty, but who is different in other ways (Gattis talks about creating a new villain as a possibility, since book Moran wasn't that great). He might not be called Moran, for Gattis emphasizes, that there is this character with *just the name* Moran in the Empty Hearse - which probably means this character won't have the function as the big baddy in future episodes.
