I have had the pleasure of flying with Doreen on many of my 1500+ flights between Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Orlando. In fact I have flown with every member of this cabin crew and each and everyone is a true professional. Many passengers treat the crew so poorly, do not follow instructions and hold them accountable for all the cuts airlines have made. I would suggest on your next flight that you thank the crew, I always have and continue to do so. They just might save your life one day.

I use planes regularly and whenever I feel something odd, bumps, whatever, I observe the crew. If they are cool, I am cool. Thanks for your service.

I agree some much with your comment, I often fly between UK and South America and I have seen some people standing up during take off and they go bowling down the plane because they want their iPad etc,they should be barred from ever flying again.

This shows just how good Capt Sullenberger was... if the flight attendants, very experienced flight attendants, thought they had landed on the ground. Amazing!!!

I am so proud of the wonderful Flight Attendants (and CERTAINLY of our 2 Brave Pilots) of my company, USAirways...It seems we (USAirways) get a bad rap, but we have the most dedicated professional crews in the industry.

Interesting, I've checked out most these videos film and actual, but this one seems to show that despite the pilot fantastic heroic job of Sully and the other pilot In landing the plane, the aftermath could have still been tragic or partially tragic. I thank GOD it wasn't. The testimony of Sheila Dail that reflects that the flight attendant wasn't aware of being on water opposed to land and of the door being open resulting in gushing water is at least chilling. Hopefully, after this event, flight attendants are better trained on what to do and not do after such an event especially in regards to opening doors and passenger control etc. ...
@tarheelblue63nc254 жыл бұрын
blucinemafilms Perhaps it’s because they were not told it’s a water landing?

The window on the exit door serves a purpose. Cabin crew are trained to check if it is safe to open the door before doing so. Doreen failed on that account. Hope one day she can be candid about it.

Doreens other interviews she seems very mad about what happened, then she said in her 30 plus years of training she was told the plane goes down in the front first, but since the back went down first she seemed really upset

Watching the other testimonies (The Capt & F/O) these girls spoke at the level of what average people would do/say, the pilots however added a lot of professional dialogue. Interesting from both points of view.

They were not trained in unplanned emergency landing procedures. Command “brace” is for crew, they were supposed to instruct passengers to yell “bend over, stay down”. That’s why she is shy and hesitant and referring to Sheila all interview - coz they new that they were just extra people onboard. Didn’t perform even few little test required from flight attendants in such situation

Yeah. You can tell, these flight attendants don't get paid much. Not only do they lack social skills. They lack verbal skills & seem to have no inclinations to opinion or thought. If I were them, I too, probably wouldn't be so passionate over the passengers either.
@agent_ethan8 жыл бұрын
They just faced a huge accident, a huge amount of stress during and after that accident, and now having to testify all the things that happened. Its a lot of pressure, no one it's prepared for this, not even the pilots. It's really easy to judge when we are spectators but as far as I know, they did everything very well and helped on saving passangers life. I would love to see them in any flight that I was on...

They don't get paid much? Senior FA's like Donna, Sheila nd Doreen can make up to 100k annually, based on actual flight hours! I wouldn't call that bad. They lack social skills??? I guess that's the most ignorant and stupid statement of this post!!! Seriously? You have the blatancy to say that about three flight attendants who safely evacuated 150 passengers from a sinking plane that had to make a forced water landing? You see the dissent in what you're saying? And finally I don't see them lacking any verbal skills either! However I see a lack of brains and mostly empathy in statements such as yours!
@osiris_blanche7 жыл бұрын
L1011Lover dang. take it easy. 1st off, thanks for reading my pathetic rant. 😂 2nd - you just said it yourself, SENIOR FA makes UP TO 100k annual. Therefore the average FA makes roughly 40k (domestic flights) it's not bad, but it's certainly pretty dull (considering your job is basically telling people to sit down, behave & obey). And most passengers treat these FA like they're waitresses.

I too think Doreen is lying and opened the door but I don’t blame her. Her best defence is the fact the captain kept them in the dark that he was ditching in the Hudson and thus she did not have time to mentally prepare for that. Sully put her in a difficult position and owes her big time. Instead of admitting his failings Sully protected his own ass by refusing to be debriefed by the official investigators until he had put his PR campaign into full swing sucessfully and decided what not to admit. Sully screwed up before he ever hit the geese but should also have warned the flight attendants he was ditching the plane in the Hudson abd ge shoukd be a man and own up to that. I will never spend good money watching this stupid movie about this with stupid Tom Hanks chiming in on the glory but I’ll just wager that they left all of this part out. I suspect Doreen forgot to look outside before opening the door or panicked when she saw the water because the pilot never warned them. They are not supposed to open the rear doors in a water landing because the planes are designed to be heavier in the back to be able to do water landing. This means the back doors will be below the water line. If they would ever stop the misogyny that persists to this day and I have the malepilot and copilot communicate with the mostly female flight attendants about what the hell is going on us passengers would be safer in emergencies. No lessons learned from this dog and pony show.

Why don't you go give yourself 2 minutes and 4000ft from beginning to end and let's see how dead you are. You would be very dead. Everyone did as good as they could in this extremely high stress time compression event. The outcome was successful and THAT is all that matters.
