here in the states my luthier told me it was cool. but needed a fret level and a full set up, thats 250.00usd. the risa was good out of the box. Also the build quality is superb on the Risa . no drips no sort of scruffy sanding. And that the pickups were Pro quality. He didn't have a dog in the fight, just said it is worth the cost. He doesn't sell any instruments . Personal opinion , the neck pick up is way too hot on the Flight. Also I am an old guy and I always want the best I can afford. My Main ukulele is a Kanile'a K1 tenor. Love your content. And it really does make a difference with head phones. Keep teaching me stuff, and thank you.

Thank You Randall for the info and lovely comment. I know the electric Flight ukes do sometimes need a bit of extra work, one of the reasons I always advise to buy from specialist shops who will check and do any necessary work. Yes, I can definitely see the difference in quality overall but it’s nice to have the options. I hadn’t noticed the neck pick up being much hotter but obviously haven’t layer it that much. Keep the great comments coming. 😊

I gig with a Flight Pathfinder and I love the looks I get when I play a dirty, full distortion blues on it. Most none Ukulele players don't even know what it is. Most think it's a strange, small, 4 string Guitar. I love my Blue Wonder, it was out of the box almost perfect (Intonation was off) and it's fun to play. Love your stuff, keep up the good work. Another great video comparison Rachel, to my untrained ear i thought the sounds from both were very similar with Risa just edging it, but i wouldn't say it was double money better, for someone on a budget the Flight seems better value; but with us all being different it's up to individual taste ❤

Where did you buy it from Daniel? I know the specialist shops such as Southern Uke Store often do a bit of work on the Flight electric ukes before they get shipped. Always worth trying to buy from the specialist shops. 👍

@@UkuleleWales Thomann. I bet the specialty shops do the same work my luthier had to do and incorporate it into their price (I note they tend to charge £50 to £80 more)

@@danielktdoranie I would say so yes, I know they mentioned a little more work than normal. They don't tend to be very much more expensive if at all but of course Thomann has huge buying power. 👍

Hi Rachel interesting video. I’m a bass player and guitar player the comparison between the two solid bodied ukes sound wise was very tight. Personally I preferred the sound of the flight sounded a tad more mellow than the Risa when finger picked. Not much difference in sound when played with the effects pedals. I couldn’t justify over £600 for the Risa when you could buy a full sized guitar for that. Enjoyed watching the video. 🤗👍🏻🎸🎶

Thanks Bridgette. Yes the price difference is a lot and of course the Risa was around for quite a while before the Flight Centurion came out. There is a quality difference but whether the price justifies is, well that has to be up to the buyer. 👍

I have the exact same Risa Les Paul. I have had a lot of work done to it that may interest you. First I had a company Called MJS Pickups and they made me a whole new set of custom humbuckers. I then had all the Pots replaced with CTS pots. It was then retired completely and for another feature I had the two volume Pots be push-pull Pots so I can individually split the humbuckers to straight single coils with just the pull of the volume switch. I’m actually sellling it as I want to build another high-end electric uke. I also had all the same done to my Risa Telecaster aswell. I would be happy to send either of my ukes to you to do a review on if it’s worth upgrading your electric uke possibly? I hope all is well! I was in the hospital for 40 days so that’s why I haven’t commented in over a month.

Sorry to hear you have been in hospital Chris. Sounds interesting what you've done to your ukes, not something that I'm planning on doing TBH and as always, Thanks for the offer but shipping your instruments around the world is just too riscky sorry.

Hi. Thanks you for the comparisons. Big question about string change that you mentioned. I presume they are strung Low G, C, E, A. You mentioned using the first 4 guitar strings when changing. That would be D,G,B,E (like baritone). Is this correct and how do you change that to Low G, C E A tuning?

love my Risa LP but intonation is an ongoing issue. I guess I have to spend the price of a Flight to get it set up properly, if that's even possible. it goes out of tune FAST.

Not sure if you means the strings go out of tune fast or if the intonation needs adjusting. If you let me know which one and I can advise further.

Hi what is the scale length on these please. I have a 20" scale length electric guitar, what would be any advantage in getting one of the electric ukes over keeping my 20" guitar?

Scale is roughly between 17” & 18” for all the solid body electric ukes. Obviously the ukes only have 4 strings making them different to play. As I’m not a guitarist it’s difficult for me to talk about advantages sorry.
