Your review was part of my decision to get the 5 string Kala Ubass ... coming from Reverb, he made an offer I couldn't refuse ... can't wait to get it!!

Hello! Does your Blackstar Carryon Bass have a buzz/hum? I'm asking because I have this exact bass and it's buzzing! I'm not sure if it's just the unit I got. I get rid of the buzz using a noise gate, but it would be nice to plug it directly without the buzz. Drives me nuts!

Rachel, on my uke the E string when fretted 2nd fret, sounds dull....no sustain. All the other strings are fine and the E string on all the other frets is fine , any suggestions?

This is the best instructional for making backing tracks using GarageBand that I've seen. I don't play the ukulele but the piano - this will work for ANY instrument. Thank you for a superb video and please can you explore this subject further.

Thanks for this fresh review. All the others are so old as the TUS/TUC series are old, even the signature ones with the awesome artworks. I'm still thinking on TUS, TUSL, even TUC and the signature plus artistic ones as a total beginner....

Enjoyed your trip Porthcawl. I lived around the Wye Valley area for several years in early 70-80's. Now playing ultra short scale bass in Queensland. Aus with a bunch of fellow crinklies. We used to say in Wye Valley days 'if you could see the mountains its going to rain and if you can't see them it is raining' . Your mob certainly brought the sun out to play. I think I saw a bloke playing a Blackstar travel bass. My next addition to the toy box, I'll have to rip the frets out though, just love playing fretless.

I just bought one to test my theory that magnetic pickups beat piezo (jury's still out), and i was lucky to buy with it the official Kala flats, which are made by LaBella, and yes, you're right, they go together very well indeed!

Great video, very helpful. I'm new to the uke so have not needed to change any strings yet so I'm sure I'll be returning to this when the time comes. Are the beads actually fixed to the strings like they are on steel strings or do they just come in the packet along with the strings?

Another great vlog, thank you. Porthcawl Summer Jam...Bring UR winter coat? Lots of happy faces & great tunes. I noticed the 'Home & Colonial Stores' in the background, my mam used to do all of her grocery shopping in one. Haven't seen one for many a year! Cheers....

Wow, I thought the purple pickguard was so beautiful. I had to try it too, without the video I would never have dared. So I ordered a blank and made it with a fretsaw and sandpaper. It went really well and looks great. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for all this, Rachel. Enjoyed playing my baritone and singing along on Saturday. First set was so cold and windy though. I did discover that the local shops do not sell fingerless gloves in July. Great day any way!

I’ve found that uke players are loneliest people on the music field, accompanied by their lone bassist with lowest notes. Can`t put my finger where accordion players belong- haven’t seen one for years 😊

I'm 65 years old and I live in Burnaby, BC, Canada, and I think I could enjoy getting involved with a group like this! I don't currently own a ukulele, but perhaps might buy one (if I can find a local group to play with). Thanks for posting this! Very inspiring!

I have just got a bass ukulele with round wound strings. When playing with my baritone and tenor ukuleles I keep my fretting hand nails very short but not my strumming hand nails. I know this may sound like a silly question but what size finger nails would you recommend for plucking the stings of the bass?

Thanks for this, Rachel. I've resisted such things so far (yet more kit!) but the small scale of this one really appeals. I'll have to change my Books setting to 'scroll horizontally' as it's set to vertically at the mo, so I can have half of each page on screen when needed. However, there's nothing worse than those songs where you realise there are no open bass string possibilities for a page scroll/turn! Very best wishes for your end of term. Laura

In fact, everything 's said in the comments already, but I feel the necessity to thank you personally. Got a Bass Uke as a gift from a friend, along with an amplifier LANEY Linebacker30. Haven't played any Bass before and was looking for help to get started. You're just, I make it short, a bliss and so talented in teaching beginners, so clear and motivating easy to follow your lessons. Would like to give you a big hug. So glad having found you 😊👍👍👍👍👍 Thank you sooooo much😊.

I bought one of those last year, it works great! I do like the internal rechargeable battery instead of having to faff about with AA or AAA ones. I've not got around to using the TRS connector yet, apparently I can control the effects on my Roland Cube Street with it.
