Why does this plane fly from St Martin to Curacao before going to Amsterdam? Why not go straight to Amsterdam from St Martin? If its because they can't take off with that much weight with fuel then why not fly into Miami? Or is there some other reason this 747 flys into Curacao just to turn the opposite way back to Amsterdam?

To fill the plane with passengers all going to Amsterdam, St Maarten alone is not a high demand flight for a 747 capacity. Airliners always want to fill up the plane as much as possible because it's cheaper that way. Now they use 767 or 787 dreamliner so now it is direct from St Maarten I believe.

@@LenoresW KLM used the B744 on the AMS-SXM route for the last time in October 28th, 2016. That's when they switched to the A332 including direct flights back to AMS. After Hurricane Irma in September 2017, they stopped those direct flights. On May 15th, KLM announced that they will resume direct flights twice weekly starting at the ending of October of this year, when the winter timetable goes into effect. They also announced that they will be switching to the B787 on the AMS-CUR route starting in 2020. Maintaining the same flight frequency of 7 per week but reducing the total seat capacity.

Very interesting to see NATO/OTAN E-3 Sentury aircraft at Curacao. What immediately comes to mind is surveilence for drug enforcement coming from Columbia and other countries to the US/Canada with those countries probably paying much of the costs for deployment of aircraft from EU of which Netherlands is a NATO member. Not only drug running by air but probably by sea and who knows perhaps even below by small submarines built for the task. It is a never ending task because there is so much profit in it. Hell at a mass charitable fund raising event for diseases or what ever at a stadium in Miami some time ago there was a huge money contribution from the blockade runners right on national television all for a good cause!!!
